hacker u crack me up, you have probably never been to the USA and yet you seem to think you know what you are talking about.
Also, I made over 150k last year and I will tell you this, it is not my responsibility to pay healthcare for someone who made 20k. you try and take what I worked my ass off for and you will meet my guns! See the thing is when a country starts doing that it is called France and we have all seen what that "experiment" screwed up!

I was born in the USA arsehole.

So you must be familiar with the concept of profit margin then? How much do you pay on private health insurance?

private health insurance - Minus the profit margin = how much public health insurance would cost you

GUESS WHAT! ITS LOWER!
Thats how much you would pay for public health insurance.

I think they should set healthcare systems up like a reward system. The less you use it the more rewarded you are. I had this with a former company I worked for. Basicially I had a 2K allowance for all my small medical bills per year. And the amount left over would roll over into the next year. I could pay doctors bills, prescriptions, whatever with this amount. Basically it kept people from going to the doctor everytime they had a freakin cold asking antibotics or something silly like that. However there was the"catastropic insurance" benefit that if I needed to be hospitilized or whatever that my 2K would go directly to that, I would have to pay out of pocket like 2K more and then they covered the rest. So lets re exam this. If I maintained a healthy life style and conserved my benifits I was rewarded, but even if I got really sick, which can happen to anyone I was covered with very little out of pocket for me (in the scheme of things).

I wish the government would consider something like this.

Everyone needs health insurance at some point or another, just like everyone needs to use roads at somepoint or another.

Simple.

Get rid of the profit motive and its even CHEAPER.

Simple.

Do you know how much 2k is?

Its like not even enough to get your two front teeth replaced!

Let alone discovering cancer (remember 1/3rd of us will get cancer and 1/12men will get testicular ore prostate cancer at some point in their life)

I didn't say private health insurance.

Private health insurance and private institutions are different.

If you go into St. Lukes with a terminal disease or critically, they aren't going to kick out if you only make 18k a year. They take you in and figure out the details later. Many of these hospitals are run from donations from wealthy people who wouldn't be so wealthy if all their money went to government.

It didn't cover dental , silly. :P

EDIT: I saw you added to your post. Did you even read my post? Cancer would have been covered under catastrophic. So for the year you went through treatment you would have paid out of your own pocket 2K. (heath insurance would have covered the 300K extra or whatever) are you whining about that number?

ok then....

That isn't enough to get a pinky finger reattached!

Let alone cancer! Which 1/3rd of us will get in our life! and it isn't always caused by smoking, some people just get it.

Like Breast cancer. or prostate cancer... it just 'happens'

my 20 year old friend had testicular cancer

he lives in australia and could get insurance

Agreed.

I like how Hacker never addressed my post about privatized institutions and hospitals. Wait, it's because I'm right.

At the end of the day I think 77/78 is a pretty damn good life expectancy. You go ahead and live a couple extra years, but I'll be a lot fucking happier with 15% more of my money.

Dude, some advice, get off your ass and live in another country other than Mexico or Canada for a few years. We'll see how your viewpoint changes.

Agreed.

I did but you didn't read it!

Hacker, read her post, catastrophic would have covered the pinky or cancer you have the problem most left wing nuts do, you only see what you want and not what is there!

15% of your money hey?

I recon america having private health insurance and spending the world average on defence would give you more than 15% back alone!

I only earn money for security reasons, i rarely spend it.

If your one of those people that believes money makes you happy then either
a)you haven't earn't enough yet
or
b) your one of those lame people that always spends, and its always never satisfying.

You're not taking into account that women overall cost more than men. Not every woman wants to drink a bottle of schnapps and pop one out on the couch to save a few dollars. Nor do they want to skip doctors appointments in the first few years of their childs life.

Dude stop talking and start reading.

You see thats the difference between me and those lame ron paul supporters.... i read!

or we can just take an Net IQ test and put a screenshot up and then winner wins the argument.

Deal? hehe

Where did you pull that statistic from? Your ass?

I can reference everyone of my statistics.

hacker since America has been asked to save the rest of the free world for the last 100 years if we don't spend the money on our military you will have to learn to wear a burka and remember Iran does not have homosexuals so you would be SOL

You ever dealt with insurance for employees at all? Ever wonder why full PPO costs more for women than men during their twenties? Ever wonder why that amount increases when the girl is married?

America ignored the rest of the world dumbass, get it right, America didn't want a single thing to do with WWI or II. Several allies requested help but America ignored them.

In a private health system, maybe.

But i know in public health systems men actually cost the most, because they are less likely to want to see a doctor, and therefore get more severe diseases...

like are less likely to get heart disease ditected earlier
less likely to detect cancer
