Because I'm a loser with nothing better to do. It was pretty scratched & scuffed, so I decided to give it a brushed finish. Wet sanded it with 800 grit then moved to 1200 grit. I thought it turned out alright...

Haha. Yeah, this would have been an awesome idea. Maybe be worth doing it with a fresh 3G. Your ROI would be phenomenal if Gizmodo paid out.
I sanded over the logo and the text... shit wouldn't budge, must go pretty deep. The logo now looks like brushed metal, it didn't really show up in the photos so here's another one

Looks good! You could always sand up to 4000 grit, then using a plastic polish, apply a high gloss polish with a linisher!
Then you would have a highly polished back for your... oh wait.
