Seems like everyone here only succeeds

Also it helps that I'm an Atheist.

(there's a point I promise)

I just think THIS IS FUCKING IT. THIS ALL YOU GOT. SO STOP FUCKING AROUND AND WASTING THE ONE CHANCE YOU HAVE BEFORE YOU'RE BLINKED OUT OF EXISTENCE FOREVER.

It's highly motivating.

I really like that quote. :bigear:

Anyone who says they succeed 100% of the time is probably also lying 100% of the time.

Word.

And not only that, but if you succeed 100% of the time, you're not going to make big moves because you're so afraid of failure. And the only way to really earn that big house in the hills with the hot momma wifey and the stable of Mercedes Benz's is to make big moves.

Thanks Dave.

Y'know, a couple years ago, I went out and rented the movie "8 Mile." I got some strange looks at the video store, too. (I'm so old I fart dust) Right afteward is when I decided to jump deep into IM.

Not that the movie had anything to do with IM but it reminded me of something my father told me... "You can do anything, if you set your mind to it."

I've set my mind to this IM thing and I'm doing it. I fail a lot and, whenever I need another reminder, I listen to "Lose Yourself" which, by the way, also gets me some strange looks. Ask me if I care.

I think I'm gonna try listening to it on catnip!

I just keep on keepin' on.

LOL it's funny to bring up eminem, he wouldn't be the first I would think of as a group motivator...but it's true. Lose Yourself is one of the most pumping motivating songs I can think of. I randomly get his lyrics stuck in my head when I get a little down Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity,To seize everything you ever wanted-One moment, would you capture it or just let it slip?...Success is my only mothafuckin option, failure's not...You can do anything you set your mind to, man.

So let it be written. So let it be done. (that wasn't Eminem, that was the Yul Brynner)

Now there are always people searching on Google looking for ways to get more backlinks to their websites, and to be honest people try looking for perfect relevant backlinks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but seem to overlook the easy links that they can also get to their websites. This article is going to take a brief look at ways to get more backlinks to your website with some short bullet points but bullet points that get to the point like bullet points should. If you are wondering why people would want more backlinks then it's not necessarily for traffic but more than likely they are looking to increase their search engine rankings.

We are all now dumber for having read this.

I'm sorry, but you're just doing it wrong.

My fail rate is around 15%. In otherwords, 15 sites out of 100 sites I launch don't pay their rent (domain dues).

Some of us don't count paying for hosting and domain as making it.

Sometimes I think of peoples success as inspiration and try to tell myself, "If they can do it, I can do it." Deep down I know it's not true, I'm never going to be a millionaire, but it keeps me from giving up.

You missed the point Scott was trying to make.

Let's say you have 100 domains. Each year you pay $8 for each domain (hosting/reg). You'd be paying $800 per year.

Now, let's say each of those domains MAKES $20/year. That is a $12 profit per domain per year. 100 domains x 12 dollar profit = $1200/profit year.

Scott was saying power in numbers. Imagine if you could do that with 10k domains and now you're starting to see the big picture. :D

No, I think Scott was saying that 100% of his websites earn at least $10 a year within 2 years. Whether or not that's true I really couldn't give a fuck.

So, I would imagine his metric for success would be how many exceed the baseline ($10 a year) and by how much.

If an idea doesn't work you shut it down or quit spending time on it. Since you can ride out your good ideas until they don't work anymore, when you win, you often win big.

I felt hopeless until I made my first big kill. Now I get it.

RE: Scott

If you only have a 15% failure rate you aren't taking enough risks. Also, while you may "succeed" you'll probably never reach the level of success you could reach if you were willing to stretch farther and not measure your success in terms of "making the rent". Not to belittle any of your accomplishments, I'm just saying that anyone that claims only a 15% failure rate is not taking the big risks they need to be taking to make the big score. Granted a bunch of small scores = a big score, but that takes time and scale. Every super successful person out there has failed countless times - and the reason for that is that they reached for the stars.

RE: OP

My old sig used to say "I don't fail - I succeed at finding things that don't work." You must keep this mentality, especially in this business. Get ready to "fail" a bunch of times, but if you persevere you'll reach a level of success you'd never have dreamed possible.

by reading this thread I'd invite people to re-adjust their ideas of what success are. Maybe it's just me but if you set a low goal that's where you'll end up.

Who in their right mind sets a low goal?

"All I need is .99 and I'll have a double cheeseburger..."....SUCCESS!!!

I think some people are afraid of goals. At least they're afraid to think BIG. If they set a goal of a million dollar a year income, they sabotage themselves by thinking, "Agh, I'll NEVER make a million bucks!"

That's a learned behavior because somewhere along the line, that inquisitive little kid who didn't believe he had any limits was brow-beaten by stupid adults into thinking he did.

Be a kid again, believe in yourself, and get away from anyone who doesn't believe in you.
