Sorry bro I gotta disagree with you on this point. It's definitely a racism thing, and the "classless" nature of her dance is clearly only derived from the fact that it has black origins. I didn't see anyone complaining about these dances (which were peasant dances back when they were first made):

What exactly is wrong with the dance? Didn't even know it had a name but then again I'm not from Cali. When Blacks do things it's considered ghetto but once their slang, dances and fashion choices hit the mainstream then all of a sudden it's acceptable. GTFO you dam hypocrites. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the reason some people may be offended by her crip-walking might have to do with the fact that the crips are a motherfucking street gang that robs and kills and so maybe they don't want that glorified by someone of her standing on an international stage. I'm sure if she busted out with the Dougie (or any other "black" dance that isn't associated with murderous thugs) it wouldn't have been an issue.

As usual, it's not always a black thing, it's a cultural thing and some people are too dense to recognize the difference.

As far as parts of black culture being co-opted by whites, it goes both ways. For instance, how many rappers name themselves after Italian gangsters and borrow references from Godfather, Scarface, Goodfellas etc? How many black woman straighten their hair to look more like white girls. All cultures borrow from each other so don't pull any muscles patting yourself on the back.

I never said that cultures don't borrow from each other, that wasn't even my point at all. My point was that traditionally, things that originate within Black culture are usually frowned upon. Then once some "hip" White kid takes notice of it and then does it and it spreads to the rest of his friends it suddenly becomes acceptable and cool. That was my point. My dad is Black and the Black females on my his side of the family can tell you stories for days about being teased for their big lips and big butts...now look whose getting lip injections and wearing butt pads to mimic those same features that were once derided as being gross. It's okay to borrow from other cultures, but don't act like how they look, sing, dance and dress is so revolting then years later turn around and try to co-opt it for yourself. As far as BW with straight hair, that's just them trying to look like the majority due to Black features being ridiculed for being inferior, you and I agree on that I hate it. My girl wears her hair in an old skool 1970s afro and I wouldn't have it any other way although I do like dreads a la Lauryn Hill.

The reason something doesn't "become cool" until white kids start doing it is simply because most of the white kids take their cues from what other white kids do. Once again, that goes both ways though. If it seems more noticeable and mainstream when white people do it, that's because there are a lot more white people in this country.

I definitely agree on black women looking better with natural hair though. They are a lot more fun that way too...
