Not the usual gay shit (affirmations, setting goals). I'm talking about practical stuff.

Here's what I do:

1. Masturbate/Sex the first thing in the morning. I either fuck my girlfriend furiously, or masturbate furiously. Or do both. Nothing beats starting out the day with sex.

2. Leechblock firefox plugin -- If you find yourself surfing some website too much, add the URL to leechblock. I add a custom message to the blocked website, like "Stop being a fucking tool and do some work".

3. Have a "work log" file. Basically, just write a short sentence on what you worked on and time stamp it.

eg: 11:48 PM 4/2/2009 -- set up new landing page for big dicks pill at xxxx.com
11:59 PM 4/2/2009 -- got 10,000 keywords

I just use textpad. Heh. Sounds kinda gay but I feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. (And you get to see the shit you done 3-6 months ago)

4. Have a routine and stick to it. You hear the usual shit "persistence is the key". It is. For example, I go to the gym EVERYDAY for 1 hour. I just drag my ass there and pump some weights. (And spy on that hot latino chick on the tread mill) There is no 'motivational' secrets. It's just going out there and grinding.

(FFFFFFF, dat ass. Video gamers will know what character she is)

Is that the ass you are tapping every morning? If so +rep to you.

That picture was taken outside the Roundhouse community center in Yaletown Vancouver BTW.

I use Tomboy. It's the most productive note taking app I've ever used. It's designed for the impatient and lazy.

I setup Git and Capistrano for all my sites and projects, to keep everything synced. If you don't use these tools already, they're annoying to learn, but so worth it.

As for email and IM, I've switched to only checking email and using AIM on my blackberry. Since it's a hassle to reach for it and press a button, I check email/IMs 99% less. (It's important that the notification feature on the BB is turned off of course)

I switched from reading too many blogs (not just AM but blogs in general) to reading hard copy books. Reading is great at curbing ADD.

Fixing my sleep schedule was probably the best thing I could do for my productivity. Staying up only feels productive.

Amphetamine, Provigil and sometimes caffeine, though caffeine I try to avoid. The crash involves me being very irritated and wanting to run children over with my car whenever something annoying happens.

atoreese's domain google spreadsheets tip is great. I'm gonna copy.

Audiobooks are the best invention since sliced bread for me. When cleaning up at the gym it's some foreign language course or some type of information playing.

For marketing it's all about templates and frameworks. Use what is out there for free. Only go custom when it is required and even then you just use your own framework.

For me its about having fun. I like AM and creating successful campaigns. If your not enjoying yourself, something is wrong.

Although realistically I think having a good sleep schedule is the best thing you can do. I noticed a big jump in my output when I started waking up at 8AM as opposed to Noon...etc. Love being able to get a jump on the days news and the markets.

I like the notepad idea, do something like that in onenote, but find it too cumbersome for what i really need. Been debating on moving that into a spreadsheet, but don't think I'm disiplined enough to do really track my time that much. I use ResuceTime and review it about every month.

I'm also going to try the leechblock plugin. Good Tips.

My top productivity increase came when i bought sugarsync to sync my laptop and my desktop. This helps me continue working on projects between class and saves me a 20 min commute each way. Works wonders for my 1.5 hour breaks between classes.

I also moved from outlook to gmail, no more syncing two computer's email via svn. :)

I'm finally completely mobile.

As far as real productivity shit, i use a google notebook to track tasks and have it loaded in a side bar. Helps me keep all my shit straight. (mobile again)

I also use a google spreadsheet to track all my domains with notes next to them. This includes my parasite hosts along with what is going on. Within this spreadsheet I also have a cash inflow/outflow area which uses a vlookup to link the domains with the amount of money spent on each one. I then sync the invoices or printed receipts in a dropbox under the site name. (mobile again)

As far as content buys, I track those also in spreadsheets. (mobile again)

Yes... i like spreadsheets and hate being tied to one computer.

im interested in rescuetime. but are you worried about security? ie keylogging etc.

THere is a "pro" version for companies to use.

As for rescueTime, I HATE all the stuff they tacked on.
What started as a small (already complex) time tracking tool has just become completely bogus, with tags and goals and whatnot...
