I'm not here for your amusement.

It's not intended to be a humor site - it's a marketing experiment.

Never said you were. Settle down big boy. :D

How's the experiment going? (serious question) It appears you are testing something along the lines of whether or not negative publicity can drive good targetted traffic (or something like that).

Yeah - along those lines. It's a little tough to track the impact, but I'm hearing from some of the people I'm targeting.

Basically, I am using it to address real complaints we've received. Like one where people are constantly telling me it's too hot in Miami in the summer.

As if I never considered that when picking the city. We're going there then because we can get a low rate for a nice hotel, since our polling indicates that attendees want to pay next to nothing for 5-star hotels.

On another note, I submitted a press release to PRweb for the site and they rejected it on the grounds that it "appears to be intended to exact personal revenge or harm a person or group."

I explained that I was the person or group I was targeting, but they didn't care.

That's pretty funny!

Couple questions:

1. Why did you choose the "sucks" format vs. a FAQ or even a blog post on a major blogger's site?

2. Do you think that having the site "outed" here will affect it's impact or skew your experiment?

Thanks!

I figured I'd try something different. I've never had an FAQ on a site get any traffic. I do plenty of "conventional" interviews and such already.

No - I would have concealed the source of the info if I thought that would be damaging. The ability to be outed has extended the conversation about the site in various places.
