I think today, you just have more resistance to building your empire. Which means you're just going to have to work a little smarter, harder and faster.

Wrong! That material changed the vision of a lot of nabs at the time it was published and set a great mindset of building empire on your niche. Well if you do all the steps today Google slaps faster than 3 years ago that's a fact.
Blackhat spams other churn and burns got totally screwed and can't get the juice from links anymore to worth your time. But that gave us some serious topics to cement our lead in niches on how should be the domination occur.
The methodology still works. You need foundation you need automation you need upward linking by maintaining natural look. It is still in numbers. etc.
