@OP did you try changing ip and logging in? Or having someone else do it? How long did you have this accountt?

You know, I created a Google Gadget and some psycho kept rating mine low and saying it had a virus to scare people, which it obviously did not. I think he thought I rated his gadget low or something. I bet this has something to do with that.

If I don't get my account back, I'm going to go postal...

I don't see why this would have anything to do with it... they don't just close people's accounts. Maybe it's a temporary glitch or something.

They regularly close accounts that go against TOS. I've had *cough* a few closed. But never my personal accounts...it never really occurred to me. Maybe there tracking ips now and closing accounts related to certain ips.

/removes tin foil hat.

I'm guessing that guy reported me as a spammer or something. There's a link you can click on to report people's comments.

But I never did leave any comments, just rated my own gadgets 5 stars (over and over again). I wouldn't think I'd get banned for that, but who knows...

Man... some total random faggot completely fucked me over. And I wasn't even the person he thought I was. If I ever find out who he is...

Thank you for your report. We were unable to verify that you own this
account based on the information you provided. As a result, we've disabled this account, and we can't give you access to it.

You can't provide them with enough information to prove that you own your own account?

Ouch man, that sucks =/

Do you send out a lot of email from this account? Maybe someone is marking your email as spam or something.

It's kind of hard to think that they would completely close down your account over 1 report.

Not that it helps transistor, but I have always been paranoid of web based mail. Even if I used GMail, I would use the POP3 and my own client, though, I know some people need the convenience of anywhere-access.

Having your 'main' mail account on your own hosting or server makes the best sense. Not your ISP, not places where you have shady things going on, but a 'safe' domain you may own.

The only realistic way you would be shut down is to not pay you hosting bill.

Plus, I don't like the impression that a Gmail or Yahoo address makes. It's about the same as having your money blog on wordpress.com or Blogspot or whoever else the free guys are. It reeks of rinky-dink and micky mouse.

We have millions of addresses available to us with just a small bit of creativity.

Good luck transistor.

Under the "More Actions" dropdown in Gmail, you can create filters to automatically forward certain messages to a another email account.

Same. I've had issues with an account some time ago... Since then I have always used an email with a personnal domain so I can backup my emails on my HD.

Disregarding the obvious issues of having your account banned, there's no reason why you can't back up your Google email on your HD. I don't use Google's web interface for example, I check and send Gmail via Outlook.

You could set up your Gmail account in Outlook and it will then download every message sitting in your Gmail inbox.

This is why I use Google Apps for email. for domains I don't use Google apps I forward to a gmail account but I backup my main important account using outlook to download all the emails, and keep a copy on the server for world wide access.

This way if they can your account you can just forward your domain email elsewhere since you give out the domain address as an email, not gmail. and you still have a copy of all your important emails.

Good luck bros.
