The Official 2013-2014 NFL Thread

holy shit man pump the brakes. Romo is like Philip Rivers' long lost cousin, king of choke. Rodgers is a top 3 QB.

I agree he is the top 3 QB but the way he plays he can't really finish, hopefully that shit changes, I do agree they do need some better Defense

Pats look like shit. No weapons anymore. Thank God the Jets suck.

They lost too many people too fast. Trading Welker was a mistake, in my opinion. Amendola is as fragile as a toothpick. Losing Vereen was the icing on the cake. Thank heavens their division is so bad they'll probably still rack up 10 wins.

Holy shit you are such a fucking hypocrite douchebag asswipe

What a retarded thread. The Pats got rid of a 32 year old WR and replaced him with a younger, faster receiver 5 years Welker's junior.

Gronkowski is perenially injured and that news was no surprise to anyone.

Tebow was an absolutely brilliant stroke of genius by Belichick and I've already predicted that he will have at least 10 TD's this season, be it as a TE/FB/HB/QB, or whatever ingenious capacity Bill uses him in.

The only unexpected news was this murder beef with Hernandez. Even still, the Pats will make it work. They're famous for that.

They lost the best QB in NFL history and went on to win 11 games with a backup. Brady won many of his SB's with scrubs for receivers. Their secondary has always been a heap of rotating parts and third-tier pieces.

But their system is structured so that the damage of losing any one piece is always minimized. Not a single person who truly watches the Patriots is worried. This is one of the most resilient and flexible teams in the league. Personally, I think Tebow could make a fantastic TE if he's willing to play that position.

This gay thread sounds like it was created by a Patriots hater, and no surprise, it's medicalhumor, the resident WF retard.

Hell of a game last night. That Seattle D has every oppposing offense on lock down. This guy from NFL.com pretty much sums it up:

On a night when the Seahawks' "12th man" reportedly set a Guinness World Record for loudest stadium at CenturyLink Field, it is increasingly hard to imagine Seattle losing at home. This is a team that entered the season as the NFC favorites and only looks better after two weeks. Bruce Irvin, Chris Clemons, Brandon Browner and Percy Harvin haven't even played yet for this team.

If the 49ers can't win in Seattle, who can?

Not ready to hand Seattle the superbowl just yet (sept lol). Penalties all over the place (annoying) and that QB is not much of a passer. Sucks ass, actually.

Defense is tremendous & Lynch is bona fide beast. That's a lot to work with.

Sucks ass???

Russell Wilson is a great QB...he just had a bad night. He'll bounce back just fine when they destroy Jacksonville next week.

Refs were calling everything last night. Way too tight and fans don't wanna see that shit. Just let the players play...

I actually like Russell Wilson, but you need to back that train up. Unless you're redefining what the word "great" means.

Ok, let's revisit this topic again in December. I'm betting that he'll throw for at least 30 TDs this year, even with them being a running team.

So what you meant to say is you think he will be very good. I agree. But I think we have a very different definition of great.

Well, the question is, "How many years does a QB have to play before you can you say he is great QB?"

Is it one? Two? Three?

Some guy actually talked about this the other day on ESPN or a similar show. He made the point that when you see a beautiful woman walk into the room, you immediately acknowledge her as being beautiful.

So if a young, 1st year QB is having a great year, shouldn't he be recognized as a great QB? Why must we wait 2-3 years before giving him this label?

Anyhow, I'd probably agree that I'd like to see 2 great years out of a QB before labeling him a "great QB." There's been too many years where a QB has had a great year only to show nothing for the rest of his career. Case in point: Derek Anderson.

So I guess I'll wait till the end of the year to crown RW as being one of the greats of today...although I'm 99% sure he will be.

Not only does it have to be more than one year, but he has to actually play great. Russell Wilson has played one year, and played well. Not great. He threw for 26 TD's and 3,100 yards last year. For comparison, Matthew Stafford threw for 41 TD's and over 5,000 yards 2 years ago and I certainly wouldn't call him great.

Rodgers, Manning, Brady, Brees are great quarterbacks. They put up big numbers year after year, they're MVP's, they win Super Bowls. That's greatness. Having one good year does not make a great quarterback. History is littered with QB's that have had a good year or two and turned to shit. Try not to let your panties get too wet just yet.

That being said, Seattle has a really good team so he doesn't have to be great for them to win. If you're a Seattle fan you should be excited. But don't start planning any trips to Canton for the guy that's played 18 career games.

that's one terrible fucking analogy. i have to assume you're either from seattle or they're your lifelong favorite because nobody who wasn't suffering from a crippling case of homerism could hear (let alone share) the above argument with a straight face.
