The Official 2013-2014 NFL Thread

Carolina might have the best front 7 in the NFL. Absolutely the most underrated. Hawks were missing 4 starters on D. SF was at home, Seattle 3000 miles away from home. Should I continue?

But yeah, they looked like shit for most of the game. Way too many flags.

I absolutely agree. Seattle had a lot going against them and still pulled out the win against a team that I think will surprise people this year. Winning those close, tough road games makes you a stronger team at the end of the year, Imo. It gives you the confidence you need if/when you are in the situation again.

Really looking forward to this weeks game. San Fran @ Seattle.
Just saw that Chris Clemons is listed as a starter and we should have Browner back as well. Should be a really good game.

Fantasy footballers - trade Peyton for Top notch RB and serviceable QB now. Top o' the market and he's an awkward shove away from IR.

Stocking up on RBs is how you win FF wars of attrition, not with week 1 heroics.

very sharp advice. +1

I don't know about Aaron Rodgers, he looks like Tony Romo lately, I don't see the drive that he used to have, KAPS on the other hand is fucking bad ass at the moment.

I would like to see Chip know when to turn it on and off (regarding the flash cards and ultra fast play calling). It seems like they have the perfect cluster of playmakers to make Kelly's style deadly but if he overdoes it he is going to run these guys into the ground before the season is over.

IF he can do this, then the eagles may become very dangerous. But thats going to be a big if.

They certainly can. Even if the defense can be just half decent this year. Regardless though, Vick is Vick and still makes bad decisions. One thing that drives me nuts is he never reads the defenses blitzes and misses his hot reads 90% of the time.

Any way you look at it, it very refreshing to see a different coach running things. I actually watched Chip Kelly's press conference last night. I was so glad I didn't have to hear an injury report and "times yours".

holy shit man pump the brakes. Romo is like Philip Rivers' long lost cousin, king of choke. Rodgers is a top 3 QB.

Pats look like shit. No weapons anymore. Thank God the Jets suck.

Gronkowski is going to see 20 targets/game when he comes back next week or the following. Probably end up being the single biggest fantasy football performer at any position.

Short of that, they should give Dobson a stickum shower pregame. And I'm not talking gay webmaster style.

Agreed, I thought Kenbrell Thompkins was going to get me some points in fantasy...and he would with all the targets if only he could catch the ball. Hoping Gronk's return makes up for it.

It's incredible how predictable Philip Rivers' meltdowns are at this point in his career.

Great play by Cushing ont he pick-6 and Eddie Royal had a hurr-durr drop on a long 3rd down in the 4th. Too early to tell if Rivers will be the Rivers of 08-10 or 11-12. Give McCoy a chance to ride his ass a little (or threaten to) before passing judgement. Norv coddled his ass way too much in the later years.

Houston has a top-5 D and if the refs don't call Cam Thomas for a BS personal foul on the field goal attempt, SD could have very well won and therefore no meltdown. Rivers had a bunch of 4th quarter comebacks of 14+ points back in 2006 when he had to throw and couldn't rely on Tomlinson, so he does have it in him.

Well, shit. What a massacre

AFC Champs: Denver Broncos
NFC Champs: Denver Broncos

Peyton is on pace for 112 TDs. I still have faith in Tom Brady though. Maaaah bromance

Lol, they've lost their two of their best defensive players, if not the best. Dumerville to the Ravens and Von Miller to the living room couch. BTW, Miller has an outstanding warrant in California so he'll likely be missing the away games at Oak and SD. Plus there's a good chance he'll get suspended for a few more by Goodell. Dude could easily miss 10 games this year.

Yeah, that call changed the game. A correct call would've made it 4th and 2 at the 6 yard line and the Niners most likely would have been forced to kick a field goal. Instead, they get the TD.

How does an entire coaching staff not realize the ref's mistake?

NFL admitted Staley shouldn't have been flagged so no offsetting penalties should have been called.

A truly awful call was in 4th quarter of the HOU-SD game when Cam Thomas (SD NT) gets called for a personal foul for brushing past the "defenseless" long snapper on a field goal attempt. If the long snapper is fucking defenseless, what's to stop teams from trying constant fakes on field goals and punts when you can't pressure up the middle?

Houston got gifted 4 points - they scored a TD on the next play - and only won by 3.

(p.s. couldn't find a vid of the play. But Packers (no D) Seahawks (can't win on the road) and Denver (Manning can't throw in cold weather) won't be doing shit this year except eating giant bags of cocks while wiping away their tears. It will be fun to watch :)
