They cut open my wife....

Congrats! My wife and I just had our second son last week. Being a dad is what gives life real purpose and meaning. You're gonna love it.

emp, great headline and payoff with this thread! he looks like a keeper. hope your wife's recovering well.

Congratulations Emp! I actually DO know exactly how you feel. Go enjoy it. :)

C-Sections are a trip aren't they? Did you get to watch? When my wife had our daughter it was an unscheduled c-section. You think they are going to be all gentle and medical - nope, they put their hands in there and start yanking stuff around and come out with a baby.

I got to watch once when I was in civil duty (I did my time in the surgery - great experience)

I actually pass on watching anyone being operated on when I know the people.

Weird, as with strangers, nothing fazes me - give me gaping stomachs and cut off legs for all I care.

So no - I did not watch, but I was present, holding my wife's hands and giving her the baby for a short while after the first checkup.

Congratulations emp! As someone who is sending his eldest son to high school on Monday, I still remember his birth, a c-section also, like it was yesterday.

You are in for one amazing ride my friend.

That's wonderful! Tell your wife to move around as much as possible. The best way to recover quickly from a C-section is to keep moving and to stand up straight - hard at first and easier than you'd think in just a day or two. (I've had two C-sections.)

Congrats on a beautiful baby - that sense of marvel never goes away, btw - it's always amazing that you created something so beautiful. :)

OMG he's beautiful!!!! You can always tell the C-sectioners, they looked as if they were just plucked from the tree. And the were!

It really is pretty much the most awesome life experience.

pro tip: sleep when baby sleeps, don't try to catch up on work and don't try to get house work done, just sleep.

Thank you all.

@InternetAuthor - My wife staying still? Ha! She is already walkinh around and being active, which should help greatly with her recovery.

@turbo - I guess it will take a while until we are comfortable enough for that. Keeop in mind, he is 2 days old now. Wife is still in hospital. We get him home on Saturday.
