They made the Google search text box bigger...

I want an even bigger size, like 18-24px.

I dunno, I like seeing huge text boxes. It makes me want to type stuff. That being said, I don't see the change, or maybe I just don't notice the difference.

The larger font size is driving me crazy. Looks like the big G must have some new data reflecting users' age and they are targeting the older people with vision problems. Maybe the older non tech crowd who've never changed their home pages from MSN can't see too well and G is trying to target them.

you will notice the difference when it happens...at first i didn't, but then it changed for me...

might be browser cache?

I can't believe this is a topic of conversation.

You guys have really arrived at geeksville, you know that?

Wait... this isn't geeksville? I must of taken a wrong left turn.

But yes, this is exiting. I'm expecting to see a trend of bigger fonts over the next few months... especially among sites of the ultra geek.

FatBat, I apologize and thank you.

Admittedly I was being stupid.

However, if the big G is making their shit bigger, easier to read, etc. then it stands to reason they've got some data to back their decision up and you can extrapolate that across what you do. If nothing changes for nearly 10 years and then suddenly does it's worth noting.

I thought 12px with generous line spacing was enough for body copy, but maybe I need to test 14px or 16px to see if that works better.

DAMN!! That "is" fucking HUGE!!!

I just now went to their page. (I too rarely visit it.) I've been seeing all the replies where people were adjsuting their resolution and did not understand. Now I do.

My apologies FatBat, that is something significant to look into. (I've been at the Golf Course most of the day so I just now got on my system to check the page out.)

I read the title and really thought that you were just screwing around. :Slowly extracting foot from mouth: lulz

Thanks for the heads up on this. It probably would have been months before I ever saw it.

Probably has nothing to do with the largest generation in american history getting fucking old and geezerly. Or the fact that same demographic is one of the fastest growing segments of new internet users in the states.

Nope, not at all.

Seriously tho, good find. If G see's the need for that, we should pay attention too.

yeah , when you guys mentioned it yesterday, mine was the same, but later in the afternoon I was like WTF! I feel like I'm wearing Binocks. Turn it down G

Good to know. I was wondering why my browser seemed to be zooming wierd even when reset....

I noticed Google looked different today. The "Google Search" and "I'm Feeling Lucky" buttons are larger too.
