Thoughts on Joe Paterno?

Just throwing this out there.

I have a close friend who was sexually assaulted by a trusted adult at a similar age and the immediate family and a number of others found out. My friend tells me that the fact that nobody who knew really did anything about it causes my friend more stress and problems now than the actual act.

Not sure I follow your logic. Since when has Joe Paterno been accused of rape? Oh, he hasn't. In case you didn't read in what your mainstream media overlords were reporting, the loudest chant was "Fuck Sandusky".

Oh yeah, approximately 10,000 students attended the candlelight vigil for the victims today. That's 4-5x the amount of students that were "rioting." Didn't see that anywhere in the news.

Your ignorance of the situation is completely evident and you should probably stop posting before you make yourself look even less intelligent.

I think your misunderstanding my tone.. I am asking what the fuck happened. I am not stating a fucking thing. I "heard" that the crowd was chanting in support if Paterno...if so, that's fucking sick..if not, now I know.

I've already stated i'm somewhat ignorant on the subject. I stay on informed of shit that is actually going to affect me, and while this is certainly sad and an outrage.. there are far more important things going on. Plus, I didn't even know who the fuck Paterno was before all this drama.

Bottom line is.. SOME people are defending him and they are sick fucks.

I'm following most of the arguments on both sides, but not this nonsense.

Why? If I have a best friend, that I know for a fact rapes 10 year old boys, and I continue to let more and more little boys get raped, when it is well within my power to stop it.. I am morally just as guilty.

................
And as for the 28yr old who saw the kid gettin it in the shower, seriously, what would you do if you saw that image? "youd get up there and beat down the old man". I'd say for a sane, normal person, going into shock and calling the person you trust most is a reasonable action.
............................

So you would have done nothing and went and told your Daddy?? Really??

Suppose you had known the kid?
Suppose it had been your little brother or cousin?
Suppose it had been your little 10 year old sister?

Would you still have ran home to tell you daddy or would you have done something then? As far as I am concerned walking away from that is the biggest moral crime we have seen so far except for the actual rape itself.

Are you really that gutless that you would walk away from something like that or is it the fact that you could care less since it was not your kid or related to you?

It is not like we are even talking about trying to stop a gang of 5-10 guys beating up somebody in a subway or something where interfering could result in getting seriously injured. We are talking about ONE NAKED OLD MAN IN A SHOWER.......

The fact that anybody could come close to defending that kind behavior is extremely sad.

Exactly.. it's fucking bizarre how people are defending either of these guys.

Perhaps we should save it for another thread. This goes into a whole different set of WTFs. When you mix family dynamics with molestation/abuse there are multiple fallout factors that most people here haven't even begun to imagine.
