As brought to my attention from the classy and ever so wonderous people at ppc.bz (this post), DonorsChoose.org made it to my bookmarks this holiday season. And just in time too, as I'm now making more money on the interwebz than I do my regular job, I thought it would be a nice to give back a little. Let this be a message to all of you affiliate marketers that make decent monies; give back to your community. Our school systems are failing to deliver the proper funding needed to educate our kids, and we are in a position to help. Thank you for reading.

If you want to make sure your $'s are being well spent you can also try calling your county office and see if they have a program called Adopt a Family.

They have a list of struggling families that you can pick from and will give you a specific list of things the your adopted family needs with ages/sizes ect... You do the shopping and drop it off at the county office and they give the stuff to the family.
It's all anonymous and everything goes directly to the family you picked. A lot of things people have on their list are basics like winter coats/boots/clothes but you can get toys ect...for the kids and we usually pick up some gift cards at Walmart too.

Makes a big difference for people who are down on their luck or worse.

Yeah, because EVERYBODY with money is a hard worker and EVERYBODY without money is lazy. Idiot.

Yeah that's pretty much exactly what was I was thinking. Of course there are people with medical problems who can't work, but we have a program for that. The rest of them are lazy bitches.

Also, why you poor bro?

^^^ harsh man. And while I can see that being the case for some people (I actually know a family that lives purely on government funding and I don't see anybody giving a shit enough to get a job), it's probably not true for a lot. I know a few who have lost their job and they've basically tried everything they can to get work, and just can't.

joevis - i hope one day you experience bad fortune that has NOTHING to do with how lazy/motivated you are.

No, I make pretty decent money myself. That has nothing to do with realizing that not everyone has the same starting point and opportunities in life. I hate your type.

I've always been taught that if you can give back, even just a little, that it all makes a difference. Sometimes you wonder if it does, but I like to do what I can.

Our daughter is having her first birthday party, and instead of having people bring her a bunch of toys she doesn't need, we're having them bring unwrapped gifts that we're going to donate to Toys for Tots this holiday season. I hate seeing the kids miss out on Christmas because their parents have fallen on hard times so we thought this would be a good way to do something nice.

We're still getting our kid Birthday presents, but she's pretty spoiled already so she won't be missing out on much.

It is a crying shame sometimes, and Im not going to go so far as Joevis.....but I remember when I was 16 I took a few weeks off school to work for a small business owner.

My mother and I then took all of that money along with some of her own and adopted a family. Went to the store and picked them up hundreds of dollars of groceries for the holidays, presents for the kids, and gifts for the parents...as well as clothing etc.

Went back a week later and they had sold everything in order to install security cameras on their "property"...and the kids had no clothes, toys, or food.

I am in no way going to lump everyone into that category by any means, but at 16 years old it broke my heart. Maybe I could have done more due diligence on my part I guess....but what stuck with me in some ways is tha ta large group of people just do not want to be helped.

I still donate as much as I can..Im just saying be weary of which family you choose, do your due diligence, yadda yadda yadda whatever..merry christmas.. lol

PS-

This statement above is far worse than any one thing that Joevis said.

Makes me sick actually.

calling people lazy < wishing ill towards any individual and his family.

big difference...one is opinion and one is downright hate-filled bullshit.

It's not always easy to read people and determine what their intentions are. Sometimes we take a chance on a person only to find out it was a horrible mistake.

When I come up on a situation like that, I take it as a learning experience. It doesn't stop me from giving, but it makes me more aware of what's going on.

I know people who are takers and I make it a point to steer clear of them. But I'm also fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who are givers and who are willing to help others, expecting nothing in return.
