If I had a choice of where to live, that would be number one or two. It is just great. I like the beaches south of Tampa as well (Bradenton, Sarasota).

Charleston looks nice too but can you go to the beach in the winter in Charleston? Isn't it alittle cold?
I'm in florida in West Palm Beach. As the posters above have mentioned, stay away from Delray.
There are great communities all over this area. What are you looking for size wise? House / Condo?
The newest development in the area is "Downtown Gardens" in 33410. New shops a theater and communities all around it. On top of that, when you're on the coast the beach is a short drive away(Unless you catch the bright up).

Hey SuperDave, ya I guess I'll stay away from Delray.
I want a condo 2 bedrooms or 2 bedrooms and a den and want to spend around $4000 a month for 3 months (dec, jan, feb)
g33ks I have a girlfriend who lives in a condo right on the water called Sea Grape. She's on the 7th floor with her balcony outlooking the ocean. Beautiful sunrises over the ocean!
Anyway, she's only dropping about $2k on the pad and it's a 2bed/2bath. Cities like Palm Beach Gardens, West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Tequista, North Palm Beach are all very good on crime/community.
I lived in a community called Abacoa that's pretty much a collection of homes, apartments, businesses, and entertainment all within a mile of eachother. Gated communities are huge in the area. Admirals Cove, The Bluffs, and Steeplechase are more examples but not condos.

Another vote for somewhere in FL. I enjoyed it a hella-lot when I was there a week ago. If it wasn't during these months I would suggest Ocean City MD (like April - June). Hotttieesss!!!
Good advice to say away from delray and stay east of 95, you probably want to be on A1A/collins or a block away from that road.
Just about anything on the coast will be good. Ft Lauderdale down to Miami has a vibrant nightlife, restaurants and culture, the beach in Ft Lauderdale gets packed out. There is a lot to do. Its a good singles, couples place in my opinion.
You should look in to Melborne FL, its about 45 mins south of Orlando, its a quiet beach town that has been getting developed recently. You can get a house on the beach or river for 2K a month. If youre on the river you can rent a boat, jet skis and just take off from your house.
South Florida is great, one of my favorite areas, but its like a lifestyle to live there, therefore everything is a bit more overpriced, and what isnt, is usually not nice, or good. places like Melborne, Marco Island, Naples are nice, good food, with less of the partying like south FL

AHAHAHA I was born and raised 30 mins from Revelstoke! in a Ski town called Rossland, best skiing in canada and noone knows about it! ski-red.com

Edit: also, I live in the Caribbean now, and now that hurricane season is over, you can get a 2 bedroom townhouse, a 4 min walk from the nicest beaches you have ever seen, for 1000-1200 usd a month.
I'm in Savannah GA (about an hour and a half south of Charleston) and the beaches are all too cold to swim in past October. For me, anyway.
If you're okay with that, Tybee Island is actually pretty cheap during the winter. I like it because it isn't built up or overly gimmicky like a lot of beach communities. Plus the dining in the islands and back in Savannah is pretty awesome. Well, if you like southern-style food.
But, if you are dead-set on avoiding any winter coldness I agree with a lot of the others that South Florida is the place. Even in Savannah we get a good bit colder in Dec/Jan before warming back up.
I will recommend Satellite Beach/South Patrick Shores, in Brevard County. I am from just down the street (Cocoa Beach) and have a place in Satellite now where we spend part of the year. It's a lovely little town, not much going on but close enough to everything one could want to do in that part of the world. It's not very expensive and it's very low crime, low traffic etc.
The beach is a natural sea turtle habitat and is as a result incredibly clean and uncluttered. For part of the year there's no light allowed on the beach at night, not even from the beachfront condo buildings, and the sky is unbelievable.
If you're into that kind of thing, Canaveral is just up the street -- I've watched shuttle launches from the beach many times over the years.
If you're into that kind of thing, some real, real good strip clubs are in Cocoa Beach.
Lots of other perks there -- really, even by my prejudiced south Floridian standards, Satellite Beach is a little paradise.

I was talking to this girl last night, she was telling me about how she rotated her summer clothes out and now has her winter clothes ready, I told her I wear the same t shirts and jeans and flip flops most of the year, for about 3 weeks a year, I wear shoes and a jacket, a light one! I love it here in Sacramento
