Just outside London, UK
It's my 18th birthday in a fortnight, and I need to choose some stuff to ask for. ~$500 budget.

So far, asked for:

Cashvertising
Lemon Jelly album (relaxing as fuck, and I wanna support them)
Superlux headphones (About $30, but really really good, used to have a pair, but I lost them.)

So, can anyone suggest any cool shit/good books/whatever to ask for?

Tits for your help:

SHURE 750DJ's. I fucking love these things.

Will probably take almost half of your budget.
I'm really tempted, but the superlux ones are actually surprisingly good, so I think I'll leave it. Haven't tried many expensive headphones, but they're miles better than my dad's $180 Grados, and on one forum, there's lots of people swearing that by doing a tiny mod, they're better than their $350 headphones.
I'm vegetarian, so wouldn't want to do any hunting/shooting of animals, and we don't have enough land for me to get licensed/have enough room for clays. (you need an acre for a license I think) I have a mate with a farm though, so I can always go there if I wanna go clay shooting with his guns.

Your just turning 18 get it all in beer and whiskey and stop being a pussy.

well what are your interests?
Not sure really. Don't have many tbh.
nothing or cash
I don't wanna just ask for nothing, and I don't particularly wanna ask for cash either, tbh.

I already have waaay too much beer from the home brewing kit I did last month. I'm not that much of a fan of whisky.
Everyone, especially entrepreneurs should read,

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Letters from a Stoic by Seneca
Ok thanks. :) One thing though, they sound quite heavygoing, and I don't have a whole lot of spare time at the moment, so something a little lighter might be better. Are they as heavygoing as they sound?
lulz.

In srsness - 4 hour workweek motivated me to IM years ago. If you haven't read it - go nao.

The Rum Diary - Hunter S Thompson

I forgot the first time I read this book, but I remember it being the book that really made me want to work for myself. I'm not sure why. I read it at least twice a year.

What about some money for a jolly boys outing to somewhere like Ibiza with your mates (a la Inbetweeners). Something you will remember for ever, that is unless you do it every year anyway.

+1 for Kindle.

A years subscription to Audible.co.uk (download audio books to teh 'pod for listening when driving, walking, shopping - it's a great service.)

Some books I recommend (reading not listening - although you could probably listen to them off audible if you wanted):

(I consider the first 3 must reads and the top one is only a recent read, but I liked it a lot. Actually, I think they're all very import, with perhaps the exception of the last 2.)

Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco
Made to Stick by Chip and Dan Reese
Influence by Cialdini
Predictably irrational by Dan Ariely
Ogilvy on Advertising by David Ogilvy
The Magic of Thining Big by David Schwartz
Guerilla Marketing - Jay Conrad Levinson
