Canada... eh!
How does your body exhibit stress? You'll only be able to answer this if you are very aware of yourself at the crucial points where you do become stressed. When we are angry/stressed about something it is usually the time where we are the most unconscious. This thread is not about 'what' stresses you, that's only important to yourself, it's the 'how' that we can all benefit from.

More importantly, How do you do to fix stress?
Are you an advocate of instant gratification techniques like alcohol, drugs or masturbation? Do you prefer dealing with the problem mentally until it goes away? Do you avoid the stress hoping it goes away? Do you face it head on and try to resolve it? Do you exert yourself physically for the endorphin rush to overpower the problem with the physical stress of exercise?

When I'm stressed my eyes have a dead focus, I look at everything angrily. My stomach ties in knots and my abs become tight. I walk stiffly, my brow lowers and locks in place, my jaw clenches. I don't want to see or talk to anyone. Small things become big things. I look(unconsciously) for opportunities to get angry at something.

I deal with it a number of ways, but I want to see what you guys come up with first!

I was listening to an audio program today that was about this very thing.

The main points were that:

1. Stress is not a good working environment for your brain. Many idiotic managers think it is, but studies have shown that it's actually very counterproductive.
2. When we get stressed we tend to widthraw from social situations, friends, and family (we don't think we have the time, we're angry etc).

The ideal way to combat stress is to do the exact opposite of what most people do. Instead of withdrawing into your frustration and handling it on your own, MAKE time for friends and family.

Put yourself in relaxing social situations.

Utilize your support group as you attack the problems that are causing your stress.

During a heavy workload in college I learned how to ignore stress. Since then, whether to my detriment or not, I rarely get stressed.

If i do manage to get stressed ...

Just learn to not let anything stress you, and you'll be a lot happier. I've pretty much figured out how to ignore stress over the past year, and it's great.

When you realize that whatever you're stressing over doesn't really matter in the long run, you realize there's nothing to stress about.

I'll just pop on my favorite music, and either continue the task that I was getting a bit of stress over & just ignore the stressor in the equation, or switch to something else for a bit.

+1 for music, +1 for weights,

Gym gets me by during the week.

But I need at least a couple 3 day fishing trips with my bodies for a complete recharge.
We just catch fish for the first half a day, then we hit the casinos and drink vodka. We usually get a beach front house near a casino, no driving. You might be in need for this. I know my time is coming up this spring.

going for a drive, gym, going for a run, football aka. soccer, sex, weekend getaways (turn off phone, try to only check stats/server when needed), spending time with family and friends.

I really don't feel stress. Things that usually stress other people out I think generally motivate me and increase my productivity... for instance an impending deadline (which might be stressful for some) helps me focus myself and work more productively.

In general I find music to be a good way to change whatever mindset you are in. Also conscious thought (telling yourself that you aren't going to be angry/stressful/etc., you're going to temporarily forget about whatever is causing those emotions, and get back to work/whatever you are doing) helps a lot.

Also if you can (not always possible) taking the day off and doing whatever the fuck you want helps a lot.

Yeah, I try not to get stressed but do often. It typically happens when I have a lot of noise going on and I feel like I have a lot of work that I need to get done.

My counter is simply to step away for a 5 minute break. I try to take the time to just sit and relax in as quiet of a place as I can get. This helps a lot. It's a wonder what 5 minutes can do sometimes.

Kinda odd but I make the shower warm, turn off all the lights and lay down/sit there. Your eyes will adjust to the dark from the light under the door. Its calming to not have anything going on, tv, noise, light, etc. Kinda meditative.

Over time, I've developed the ability to minimize the feeling of stress and I can remain calm in almost any situation. If something does get me so stressed that it does affect my behavior, I normally will go to a local boxing club and fight for a few hours, or I'll hit the bar hard and take some stranger home and not remember them in the morning.
