Why I don't give a shit about MJ's death

People die everyday, but they're generally insignificant. I don't care about Joe the garbage man because 1) I don't know him, and 2) he's expendable. That doesn't mean a person has to be both 1 and 2 to qualify as being significant. Neda the Iranian girl is expandable and not somebody I know, but she happened to die and be caught on camera, and that's what matters. Her death was talked about, thought about, it has consequences. MJ's death is the same, and so is Billy Mays'.

The fact that you're starting a thread about MJ shows his significance. He means something to you, positive or negative is irrelevant. You don't care about MJ, nor the fact that he died, but at the same time nobody cares that you care whether MJ died or not. I can start a anti-anti-MJ thread, but it's probably as irrelevant and useless as this thread, at least in the sense that it provides no real value to anyone, nor poses anything revolutionary or even remotely new. Nobody I know "cares" about MJ dying, and I'm sure I have more than a few friends who still have no idea that MJ died. I don't get why this needs to be pointed out though.

Truth is, no matter how much all of us on WickedFire hate MJ and anyone who's not a marketer like Billy Mays, MJ probably has more awards and achievements than all of us on WickedFire will ever have, combined. Not that this is necessarily a good thing. And on a side note, even though I've only heard the most popular songs by MJ (and probably only 3-4 in total), there's no doubt that the man is talented as fuck. Liking his music or not doesn't change this fact.

Regarding the media...

This past weekend, I was talking with a few friends about the media's role in the U.S. My friends felt the media had a responsibility to cover certain topics. I disagree. Media companies are for-profit enterprises. Their only responsibility is to their shareholders and creditors. If that means covering an entertainment artist while ignoring dead soldiers, so be it. If that means covering a slain NFL star while ignoring Cap and Trade (the most expensive piece of legislation this country has ever seen) so be it.

As long as media companies legally cater to their customers, they are doing their job. The beauty of this system is that each of us can choose what we consume.

As for a topic being overly hyped, well, it *is* the media. The line between CNN and TMZ is a fine one. At least, TMZ is honest about delivering what their customers want to consume.

I agree, you already lost just by making this thread. Sure he went bat nuts crazy but before that he influenced more people than all of wickedfire ever will. Give him his week on TV.

Speaking of garbage men, have you ever really considered how much power they have over your life? Credit card reports, bank statements, old credit cards, logs and bills, etc.

And even though I have a shredder, remember that :)

I collect all my papers, put it in a big garbage bag, and burn it in a camping ground every 4-5 months.

During his memorial, all I could think about was getting my URL on the white-space under his coffin replica... man that woulda been sweet.

this non-stop michael jackson coverage shit is gonna go on for months.
they still havent even go the toxicolgy report, yet. Thats gonna add another month

I'm sure MJ is a cool guy, and I'm not bashing him to be cool ...

But I don't give a FUCK about some guy who grabs his crotch and does the moon walk on screen. I don't give a fuck about his zombie music video or him touching little kids and giving them "Jesus Wine".

I care about MJ as much as the 56 years old guy who makes me coffee while I play poker at the casino.

for the record, i don't think the world gives a shit what you care about.

as for the coverage, it's there because this is the death of one of the world's most famous people, a global superstar that transcended racial prejudice, connected with the entire world (minus 7 wickedire users) through his music and innovated almost every aspect of what is considered entertainment today...

he's one of the most controversial people that has ever existed, sold more albums than any other artist in history and received more press than any human being on earth due to his other-wordly talent, odd lifestyle and one-of-a-kind'ness.

your post is trite, annoying and obviously an attempt at getting some attention in this forum.

if you don't understand why there's a couple of weeks of media coverage to cover the death of a person like this... i'd say - you're a fucking idiot.

Thanks for saying that - I've just be too emotionally drained to answer. Don't forget having given away $300-$500M (MJ's record) to charity, having visited wounded soldiers in Walter Reed during the height of the Iraq war (no it wasn't televised).

Yes we do care. Because a human being who was flawed yet touched the world is gone and the world is a different place.

All this fucking bullshit talk about him being a pedo - this is the united fucking states of america. It's not Iran, fucking Pakistan, Uraguay or some other fucking third world country. You're innocent until proven guilty here - and that's how we do it.

If some money hungry bitch accuses you of rape one day and a court of law finds you not guilty, or some asshole claims you hit him because he wants some of your Affiliate cash - and you are found innocent on both counts.....I sure hope you won't be put on trial for the rest of your life and death...

Too emotionally drained!?

Dude, I am with you that he was an important guy, but for fuck sake, get a little perspective in your life.

FIRST OF ALL ASSHOLE, I AM A WOMAN. AND IF YOU KNEW MY ANGER MANAGEMENT ISSUES YOU WOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Does that make sense now?

Do I need to explain the MJ song that got me through the day when my brother died last year?

Or perhaps someone else's wife?

Or grandmother?

Or sister?

So show some fucking respect and get a fucking life - BITCH.

excuse my language...

Suppose a good friend of yours died and someone said to you "get some fucking perspective"?

Because that's how some folks feel. Even if you think it, anyone raised with a little empathy and compassion would understand that.

People have memories attached to his music and appreciate how is creative gifts affected their lives.

True music and art s not just about a fucking MTV video or CD.......

OP we don't give a shit that you get anal leakage blowing your garbage man from the homemade gloryhole on your front door..

try finding other topics to elongate your e-penis big boy..
