I feel like you just got me on some damn CIA Hitlist for watching that.

I know you don't give a shit, but some of us have family to feed... Thanks a fucking lot, Blok! ;)

SRSLY; AFY.

I bet if every Republican was made to watch this there'd be a lot less interest in the upcoming war and a lot more interest in RP 2012.

I agree, I think people in general should watch and understand this, we always look at the symptom and not the disease. Whens the last time Switzerland got attacked by a terrorist?

Switzerland's fence sitting in WW2 was disgraceful. Their general indifference is hilarious.

Anyhoo, it's good to know the terrorists can now make a good powerpoint.

And has no real counter point to the video....

Business as usual for the good ol' USA. But in all fairness, the scenario described whereby Iran was the perpetrator would have happened if it could. Throughout history all world powers have abused their power. We just happen to live in a time where the US controls the power.

I don't think that's ever going to change (i.e. countries abusing their power) no matter how much the people wake up or how informed you try to make them. Desire for profits trumps all else.

Hence why the choice of abuse or non-abuse of power shouldn't ever be left up to the individual but instead the political system should be one that prevents abuse.

Guess everyone has to come to this realization via a different path, some stubborn close-minded ones take longer than others.. But this is what libertarians have been preaching for a long time.

I totally agree with you. But, that's how America was 'born'... with the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and basic system of checks and balances.

But it all got eroded with time and corruption. Power always centralizes sooner or later to a small group of individuals which go on to wreak havoc on the rest.

Most are aware of this. This has not only happened in Iran but all over the world. Its very common for the CIA to over throw governments via civilian genocide and other such methods.

Unfortunately they can't openly speak about it due to the "america f yeah" brain washed type people. Or the constant "we support our troops" brainwashing that makes it look bad if speak against what they are forced to do (un knowingly).

^I dunno if they really have heard of any of this though... Faux news and even cnn don't really go out of their way to explain this kind of thing to the masses, nayermmsayin?

I was in high school when the whole Ollie North thing went south. My school didn't teach us anything about it, but my ultra-repugnican parents couldn't shut the fuck up about it... It was like a challenge to their americanism, and to Ronnie Ray Gun, their lord & savior.

At first they wanted to see Ollie Fry like a sausage because the MsM had convinced them that Ollie was the one behind everything that made Reagan look bad... But then later when Ollie's name was cleared, they were grateful that this fine, upstanding republican associated with the Pres was squeaky clean and eventually we even named a goldfish Ollie!

What's fucked up tho, is that those brainwashed red team slaves still couldn't think that their god Ronnie was involved in any wrongdoing. None. To them the Iran Contra scandal just could not exist because obviously if Ollie didn't do it then nobody did. Ergo Sum it just didn't happen in their universe.

As far as I can tell, all political fans are like this. If facts don't sit well with them they actively are in denial about them, and are therefore are not aware of them at all.

Most people are like this, not just political junkies.

Our worldview helps to define who we are, and so when you question the facts of someone's worldview, you're indirectly attacking their identity.

Once someone feels an attack like that, real or perceived, they put the walls up around their ideas and diminish their capacity to communicate.

I believe this is why when you confront people with facts that they did not know, or which contradict their worldview, many will try to come back with a personal attack. Because once you confront someone's identity, they will reflexively view that as a personal attack, not as a new set of facts to be assessed and assimilated.

The above can apply to all of us, including me.

As humans, we rely a lot for our values on emulation and herd signaling. We don't have enough time to get and process all of the facts before forming opinions. History and society are becoming increasingly more complex which it harder and harder for us to interpret context, forcing us to emulate and accept opinions faster than we can develop them thoughtfully and independently.

It's easy to spot bullshit arguments in the face of new facts. People will use terms like

kook
unrealistic
crazy
weird
dangerous

These opinions are stated as facts.

Imagine this conversation.

Person 1: I think 2 + 2 might be equal to 4 because 2 + 1 is equal to three, and it seems to follow logically.

Person 2: Your math is dangerous, and you're an unrealistic kook. If people do math the way you say, then Jim Crow laws will come back and America will get dirty bombed.

Whenever someone addresses the other person rather than his ideas, that's the sign of a weak argument, and in light of the above, a fragile ego which may be incapable of overcoming the reflexes of their amygdala.

I don’t think Iran’s strategy is going to work for them.

With a nuclear threat:

While it would be suicidal for Iran to use a nuclear weapon, if they were proven to have one the US’s position is greatly strengthened. A nuclear attack would result in Iran being removed from the face of the planet (and maybe all of us) and they know that but having nuclear capability and having made it clear they’d like to light up Israel most countries would see them as a rouge state if they didn’t already and the US could impose what it liked without firing a round.

Don’t accept Israel – Iran (people) loses, US wins.

Without a nuclear threat:

There is a reduced mandate to go after Iran militarily, politically and economically.

The ability for regional influence by the US is also reduced as without the threat there is no mandate to press other countries into supporting US interests based on an Iranian threat or to impose sanctions or to start a war.

Accept Israel – Iran (people) win, US loses.

US interests are as I see them, no war and oil supply (although I think oil may be an indirect thing, the US has plenty of its own oil so it’s not really about securing supply it’s about managing it) – the US has this while Iran threatens nuclear armament.

Iranian (people) interests – I can’t see any that developing a nuclear weapon and threatening Israel or the US advance.

Destroying Israel isn’t an interest the threat is based on saving face politically and pointless vengeance and the Iranian people will suffer greatly because of this.

I think that instead of spending time creating more reasons to hate more people as per the video above (which showed that the generations of leaders after the US influence were worse rouges than the US installed ones) the people of Iran should turn their attentions to removing their rouge leaders all together.

The author of the video wants to ask herself what would happen to her if she went back to Iran and did the same stunt only exposing Iran’s wrongs. She also needs to remember that the bullshit mill in Iran runs strong – and while I’m sure the guys reaching for their tin foil hats wouldn’t agree, the US government is far more accountable than the Iranian regime.

Creating hate videos as per above only hurts Iranians.
