working at home v.s. working in office

I seem to be more productive working from home. I can't stand people in an office environment...bunch of fucking tards, plus all the office drama is major distraction...but oh well each to his own.

i am talking about renting shared office space at regus.. there will not be any corporate kind of drama there..

I'd recommend not renting a shared space.

Shared spaces in my area were 600+/month for a TINY ass closet, oops I meant office.

Craigslist scored me a first floor, own entrance, own bathroom, own yard, own picnic table, and 10x the space for less money.

Where there are people, there is drama.

My suggestion: work on building your discipline. Being distracted is mostly about procrastination. That means your brain will always be able to find things with which to distract itself if it doesn't want to attack the task that awaits it.

If you're disciplined, you'll be able to work productively regardless of task or location (home, office, park, prison, etc.). Be ruthless with your time.

Also, realize that distractions are a persistent challenge for most of us. You might get to the point where you're doing well for years, but fall prey to distractions if you let your guard down.

That's the way it works for me.

i have been thinking about this asa well and 070707 where are you located becuse <$600 for all that seems impossible in california lolz

my operation became so big that i rented an office last month. 900sqft with a few desks and a few people. i find that having an office has been much more lucrative for me, but i am still more productive with the actual work being done, at home. i got a kick ass set up, multiple monitors, etc etc, but still find that i spend the majority of my time managing my assistants.

was thinking of doing remote desktop and that might help...

it's just like how most people need to go to a public gym in order to motivate themselves to work out. all it comes down to is "just doing it", wherever you are.

I've been always more productive when working from home and listening to relaxing classical music. Tried the office thing, but got too distracted from all the social stuff going around.

I used LoopNet - Office, Industrial, Retail Property for Lease for finding space. Was able to find decent private one room deals pretty cheap (Shared bathroom). Most go by SF per Year pricing; do the math. You can find something for $150-300 a month depending on area.

JUST WHAT I NEED.

Also, I have just been working in public places to increase productivity. When I am at the apartment my girlfriend is there, or her fucking beagle and I am always distracted.

Personally I need the whole 8-5pm work day it helps me stay productive and on task in order to finish at 5. It's all self discipline.

I'm seriously thinking about renting an office too, but not for the same reasons as you... I can see myself slowly deteriorating since I started working from home. I think that having to leave the house every day to "go to work" is a good thing. Working from home makes you lazy, unsociable, plus you don't shave, don't feel the need to buy new clothes and become an overall dirtbag. (sure there are exceptions, but I find that 90% I know that work from home are in the same situation)

You clearly have never work in IT.

With 2 boys and a flight attendant wife and an old dog our house is in constant motion.

When the summer is over I have already committed to renting a space after nearly 10 years of working at home. I have noticed over the past couple of years my productivity has dropped and I need a change of scenery.

Plus, I have turned into furniture. All of the ground rules of not disturbing Dad have gone out the window and it seems every 30 minutes someone needs a minute or two of my time.

I don't know if you have a laptop or not... but I find I'm the most productive if I go out to a local starbucks/coffee shop and work from there..

something about getting outside and not in the room you fap/game/watch TV helps you become more motivated to work.

True, I think that working out of home is more productive. But right now I am workingat home as well.
