Y U no talk about ferguson?

Seems like every time a white cop kills a black guy in the US, the black people feel the urge to destroy the community they live in.

A handful of businesses were looted by a small percentage of the people in Ferguson. The vast majority of the protesters are peaceful.

That said, it is a terrible PR strategy for them to loot (I think*). The media focuses all of its energy on the couple of stores that are looted making it seem like chaos, since the media loves any drama. This in turn distorts the picture for the rest of the country as to what is really happening.

*Some might argue the looting brings serious media attention to the problem.

Not really that tough. A piece of shit thug was murdered. No problem there. But if you shoot someone in the back, as they flee your home you're a felon. If a cop does it he gets a paid vacation.

The real issue here is the lies and propaganda the .gov is putting out to justify the police state. The issue is about the Feds building a military accross the country. The issue is the tanks and armored vehicles the Feds are giving away like candy. The issue is the choice of 2 military/ police uniforms departments are required to buy in order to qualify for federal monies the issue is police attacking the press. The issue is...

Stop being so long-sighted. It sounds like you care about lasting political philosophy or something.

nope tear gas wasnt used just smoke lol

Use of CS in war is prohibited under the terms of the Chemical Weapons Convention, signed by most nations in 1993 with all but five other nations signing between 1994 and 1997. The reasoning behind the prohibition is pragmatic: use of CS by one combatant could easily trigger retaliation with much more toxic chemical weapons such as nerve agents. Only four nations have not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention and are therefore unhindered by restrictions on the use of CS gas: Angola, Egypt, North Korea and Somalia.[20][21]

CS gas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

only North Korea, Somalia, egypt and angola think it's ok to use this gas. Everyone else has banned its use during war. But guess it's ok to use on Americans

I loved the video of Ferguson cops driving around in armored personnel carriers with a guy sitting on the top pointing a gun at random protesters.

Stay classy, you small-town cops, stay classy.

agreed. and just to add, it used to be that only the black community in the US of A knew what it was like to live under the police state. seems every riot (L.A., Watts, etc, etc) was a reaction to years of experiencing this firsthand. but I'm seeing this nice trend(?) these past several years where it ain't just blacks who are sensing it or experiencing it firtshand - i.e. the police state. wondering when this push to a police state got started. with the Bush/Chaney admin? Patriot Act? Obamba promised to reverse this trend during his election campaign..obviously he lied. he just continued right where the previous plantation owners left off, promoted from the ranks of their loyal house slave.

Both sides deserve each other in Ferguson
No unarmed/fleeing person deserves for the police to execute them in public, no matter how many stores he just robbed.

No peaceful crowd of people deserve to be teargassed, dispersed, and denied their right to free press.

This is about as much a race issue as the revolutionary war was.

Looting isn't a PR strategy, it's a crime of opportunity, and has nothing to do with protest in any way, shape, or form.

The assholes who were running out of this shoe store

(located 4 miles from the scene of the Brown shooting) had nothing on their minds beyond using this situation to take advantage of somebody else and enrich themselves in the process.

I know in your world crime is acceptable as long as it's perpetrated by somebody who falls below a certain income level, or somebody who has had a sufficiently difficult "experience" in America, but to people that actually have morals, that kind of post-hoc justification is bullshit.

I don't really get too emotional for the people of Ferguson after reading through that. I don't agree with the police either.

It's excessive vs excessive.

Because it's not the first time, and won't be the last. Seems like every time a white cop kills a black guy in the US, the black people feel the urge to destroy the community they live in.

I don't get that. Ok, if you're pissed off at the cops and govt, that's fine and dandy -- go torch police stations, city hall, and things like that. But don't go trash your own community, and your neighbors family run stores. What the hell? Do they not realize that once they're done rioting, they're going to have to live there?

Then business pack up and leave and the black community complains that there is no where for them to shop and no one wants to open a business in their community. I wonder why?

The autopsy has shown that he was shot 6 times, all bullets entering from the from. Not sure what happened there but it doesn't look like he was running away from the police officer

Another black guy executed by a cop.

But who cares about that. The important issue is that two stores were looted! OMG!

i think for the most part the media just feeds on people's fears and when most people see this stuff, they feel that a police state is needed. it justifies/rationalizes their "need" for a police state in order to control the bad apples. but it'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming years when more and more of the "privileged class" (playing on words here, or should i say 80% ~ 90% of the US population who lives in relative privilege (relative peace, comfort, some semblance of fair justice, etc) start to feel this privilege slowly being stripped from them. Started with the bush administration (patriot act, etc) and continues with obamba. I don't really think it'll ever get to the point where 80% ~ 90% of the population would feel they're living under a police state. heck, if that ever happens then it's history repeating all over again (french revolution, etc, etc) or what's currently happening in other parts of the world. Can't see this happening. But my wild guess (or hope) is that we'll start seeing more and more political protests and movements when more and more folks here start to feel it's a police state. (idk..maybe we'll see something similar to the 60's anti-establishment movement, or the 99ers-type protests). I'm guessing it'll be mostly peaceful protests and 'sit-ins', yet there'll be times when things'll grow out of hand, and ofcourse cops being cops.... We then start seeing candidates running for office making campaign promises to reverse this growing issue (i.e. like being under a 'police state'). My future crystal ball sounds crazy?
