Yahoo! Buzz is the up-and-coming SUPER Digg that a "front pager" could send MILLIONS of hits to... easily surpassing the tens and thousands of hits Digg Front Pages generate.

Currently the system is "closed" only to partner sites but you can sign up for notification when future inclusion is opened (here).

But maybe Yahoo! Buzz is ALREADY worth trying to game:
  • If a site included in Yahoo Buzz links to you
  • Couldn't Buzzing them to the top provide traffic if they get MILLIONS of page views?
  • Couldn't links to this article, generated via the Yahoo! Buzz "Front Page" make your link on that page more valuable in the eyes of Google?
There is no perceived value in "gaming" Buzz because people can't add their own sites/pages. That should make it easier to game. And maybe it is worth it.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have an article recently added to Yahoo! Buzz. Simply click THIS LINK (which searches for android) and BUZZ UP the article by VENTURE BEAT that is titled: "LiMo Gets New Partners Including Verizon- an Open Rival to Google's Android"

Let's see:
  • How hard it is to get a story, that links to you, featured on Yahoo Buzz!
  • If we can, do some research using analytics to see if it is worth it.
If it appears it IS beneficial enough to try and game, we can compile a list of sites currently "allowed" by Yahoo! Buzz and try our darndest to get links from them... and of course attempting to Front Page Buzz Them.

What about being one of the top commenters on an article, linking to your own website, and then Buzzing to the TOP?

I think these ideas are worth testing. I also believe that people should get started building their Yahoo! Buzz accounts now. If anyone knows anything about digg, it's that the active users with aged accounts and lots of friends are the ones who can easily help things hit the frontpage...

Yahoo Buzz will likely have to implement similar practices once they open the program to outside publishers so why not get in early and do the things we're pretty sure will help us in the long run.

If YOUR SITE IS LINKED TO ON A BUZZ ARTICLE, POST IT HERE SO WE CAN BUZZ IT TO THE TOP!

At that point, you're already 3 clicks away from a story. You think Yahoo buzz traffic is so insane that it'll bring enough visitors to matter? I guess I'm trying to find the value in going through all of that work, only to have a link on a page that has a link on the front page of another site for a few hours.

I've gotten thousands of clicks to a site simply by posting a link to a site from a pretty ordinary TMZ article. If I could increase that pages views by 1,000... why couldn't it do the same for views on my site?

And... I think the concept of "building your buzz account" couldn't hurt as well. Afterall, they're going to expand this out of beta at some point.

My basic point is that if there is going to be a time when it is easy to exploit... it's going to be now... can't hurt to look into... can it?
