Any commodity is suitable as money. Some more than others. Metals generally store better over the long term, and are more precisely divisible than pork bellies or haystacks.

I curious you worry American dollar value?

Seem like government of American print lot money for bailout. Give billions here to bank give billions there to no good American car company and give a billion to Chedda.

The more money goverment of American print the less it worth. And most of all affiliate network pay base on American dollar.

So if American dollar value get more weak because government of American print so much money for bailout those in country of other actual get paid less.

That's a good one. Buffet used to be an icon to me (my degree is in investments and securities). Now, he's completely lost credibility.

He's still a brilliant investor. But, *anything* he says publicly is now suspect.

On a side note, for those still looking for a stock, Smith & Wesson may still have some upside.

You must understand that someone such as Buffett with that much power must be careful with what they say. Their words can alter the economy itself quite a bit -- he may be saying what needs to be said to help the economy recover.

The economy won't recover with faith or magic spells.

Prices must fall, consumption must drop, production must increase, and savings have to be accumulated for future investment.

It's not voodoo.

That's the whole point. Buffet knows this, and it's why he is a successful investor. Why would doing (or promoting) the opposite of his winning strategy be a good idea?

Anyone who tells you the health of an economy is not based on production or savings, but "confidence" is really, really misguided.

The dollar's value has only decreased exponentially over time. One day (perhaps soon) the dollar will be worthless and a new global currency will take its place. Meaning, your dollars will be deemed totally useless by the IMF (just as planned).
