I just saw...

The part I like best is how none of the predominant Muslim countries are out there starting wars. The predominant Christian countries in the world on the other hand... out there bombing countries and killing arabs left and right, with no end in sight. Now they're even gearing up to go after Iran:

UK draws up plan 'to join U.S. if it attacks Iran' amid growing tensions in the Middle East | Mail Online

Don't forget though, they hate us because of our freedom.

I don't see a problem. I'm pretty sure if an Islamic country/civilization was in power they would've done the same thing to Christian countries. Oh wait, they did!

I'm sorry for the casualties but that's just war. Would you rather US/Nato invade Libya for their oil or Muslims invading UK/EU/North America to take home your wives as war booty because you drew a cartoon? This is the same reason Israel has to invade Palestine, not the other way around.

I live in a Moderate Islamic countries and I can say without a doubt majority of the muslims DO hate Western Culture, i.e freedom, civil rights etc. How do you compete with a culture that endorses polygamy and teen marriage?

You invade them.

This show on Discovery (or Science or whatever) that was called, American Muslim. I will be one of the first to say, that if their was a Muslim on my plane I would not give a damn or a fuck. I am not paranoid.

Pretty sad other people buy in to the propaganda though. Get real mother fuckers.

Sorry but you can't compare an American Muslim that were raised with American values to a Muslim raised in Iran/Afghanistan.

Really tho please don't let the US turn into France.

Would you give a fuck if a group of black people in red shirts were walking towards you in an alley? hmmm...

Here is my take relating to this subject. It sucks to be a Muslim in the U.S. but it sucks infinitely worse to be an Arab Muslim in the U.S. Shit, it sucks to be a Muslim in most places in this world. If you aren't in the U.S. being harassed by TSA and looked at on every street corner as a possible terrorist with a bomb strapped to your chest, you are in the middle east, living with poverty, war, and riots. Granted, this isn't always the case but you get the point.

Me being an atheist though, I really don't understand religion, not to this extreme at least.. I get that believing in something greater can be psychologically comforting and that having those beliefs can help pull people through bad situations. But in spite of all of that, I can't understand why in the face of all of this harassment and hatred someone would still cling to a 'belief' of a god they've never seen, spending their entire lives suffering and in pain based on something that in all likelihood, doesn't even exist. I can't tell if it's a flaw in human nature or borderline insanity, maybe both?

People argue that since a young mind is so easily influenced, that religion is 'engraved' into a child's life and it sticks with them into adulthood. That it's not a choice, it's who they are. I call bullshit on that one, I was personally brought up devoutly Christian and now I am an Atheist. So while I don't deny that it can have an impact, ultimately it's still a choice. I realize though, that's simply my perspective.

I digress, yeah it sucks to be a Muslim, but such is the consequence of religion, I make it a point to steer clear of it. When throughout history has religion not been the cause of some major controversy or war, the root of suffering, or the reason some were allowed to live while others were murdered ruthlessly, all based on what 'god' they did or did not believe in. Give me any single decade in the past 200 years and I'll give you an example of war, suffering, or violence inspired solely by religion during that time. It's sad that as far as we have came technologically and scientifically, we still can't figure out that it's fucking pointless to judge, fight, and kill each other over which imaginary being is in the sky.

This thread reminded me why I have no interest in taking to you idiots IRL...

On topic: I have no problem with being on a plane/bus with a Muslim. I don't automatically think we're all about to die. The problem with Muslim people is that in my experience they tend not to be very inviting, not very cheery, won't try and have a conversation with you, speak to them and they'll give you some miserable answer back. They can't expect people to warm to them if no one knows what these people are really like.

Slightly off topic, but hey, I'm surprised this thread hasn't yet digressed into 9/11 conspiracy theories yet.

I'm fucking sick of letting religion people (in general) get away with shit just because they say they believe in whatever their culture has decided is a god. In the workplace, and legally. I.E If you do/wear something in the workplace which wouldn't normally be allowed but these people wear it "because of their beliefs" HR WILL BEND OVER BACKWARDS to ensure a religious bint is allowed to do this and then they can't escalate it further due to discrimination laws (not sure about the U.S, its certainly that way over here).

ALSO, in London, citizens are not allowed to have their faces covered, whereas Muslims are? Hows that fucking fair? Occupy London should all go about in burkas and if theres any legal repercussion just claim to be Muslim.

Based on this plan I think Iran is seriously fucked...

i used to date a muslim girl.
pakistani muslim....she used to leave her house dressed as a ninja
she would stop at any bathroom on the way, and come out looking like a whore.

anyway, i used to tap that all the time, and she would go home and change back into her outfit...lol
she was super hot...i should have tried harder to keep her

Where do you strike up conversations with muslims? A random muslim on the bus? In a club?

There was a muslim guy, probably in his late 50s, wearing a turbin, sitting in front of me on our plane coming back from LA recently. It was kinda funny when he pulled out his James Bond movie and slapped on the Beats by Dr Dre.

Yeah... and there's an agreement in place saying all US troops have to withdraw from Iraq by Dec 31st, 2011, so if they're invading Iran, expect it to happen before the year's end. The US didn't build some of the largest military bases in the world in Iraq for no reason. :)

You do realize that future history books will say that we're currently in WWIII, and that the US / UK / NATO were the aggressors, right? And that's just fine and dandy with you?

I'm sorry for the casualties but that's just war.

Then how about we just stop invading countries? Maybe we could even grow up a little bit, and actually work together so our species doesn't go extinct. That'd be a novel idea.

Would you rather US/Nato invade Libya for their oil or Muslims invading UK/EU/North America to take home your wives as war booty because you drew a cartoon?

I'm sorry, but I'm just really not worried about the Iranian, Syrian, Malaysian or whatever army invading Canada to rape our women anytime soon. And of course they hate us. Maybe if we stopped invading their countries, and killing their women and children, they'd like us a little more.

No offense, but I've spent loads of time in KL, and you live in a country full of lemmings who are too stupid to hate the West, let alone invade the West. That's why the Chinese own the Malaysian economy -- Malays are too stupid to run it themselves. My dad's last assignment before he retired was in Malaysia, overseeing several offshore oil rigs, so I've heard loads of stories. For example, fire would break out on a rig, and everyone would run & hide in their rooms. So then you have the poor supervisor running around trying to convince everyone that since there's a fire, it's probably a better idea to get into the life boats instead of cowering in your room so you can burn alive.

Shopkeepers, college, workplace, etc. I've had good conversations with all sorts of people that I'd never met before, just never one with a Muslim. Even when I was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai not one person made me feel welcome, travel to most places and you'll find people who are just generally happier/more talkative.

I don't have any problem with them, I treat them the same way I would anyone, I'm just saying, in my experience, they generally don't reciprocate openly/pleasantly. It may just be a culture thing?

I don't hate people who have religious beliefs but I'm definitely more inclined to think they're mentally ill. Anyone who believes in a magic sorcerer in the sky running the world is a bellend in my eyes. Muslims, Christians, Jews I loathe them all equally.

Apparently muslims wipe their arse with sand using one hand and
eat with their fingers using the other - nice and hygienic, like.

But if they move to your city to breed, there's no sand there.
I wonder how they cope?
