New York to Ban Large Sugary Drinks

That's the whole point of that segment in the video.

Corn is subsidized to the point where it's so much cheaper to produce processed foods than anything remotely healthy.

Are you saying if given the alternative, all black people in the poorer areas would choose grape soda over grapes?

THIS.

Corn subsidies should stop. WTF how long have we been harping on and on about this and nothing has been happening?

All I have to say is...

Anybody eating taco bell before 11am (or in general for that matter) has surely got some larger issues than the liquids they are consuming...

All in all bros, I don't know what the giant fucking addiction is over soft drinks. I haven't had a sip of soda in probably 2+ years, and don't care to either...

Flavored Seltzer, water and the once in a while lemonade or iced tea do it for me.

It's a sensible decision IMO, no one needs to drink that much of a sugary drink with their lunch / dinner. They're also not stopping you from buying it in a store and drinking at home or whatever - it's just an effort to stop restaurants and places in the street from upselling, and people drinking it "just because it's only x cents more" or whatever.

[ One stupid example here in the UK is cinemas, where a small drink will be £2 a medium £2.30 and a large £2.60 or something along those lines. People don't buy the small drink because they can get 2-3x as much with the large for just 60p more, and then end up consuming tons more sugar than they ever should. Even if you ask for the medium, the guy selling'll say "you know you can get a large for just 30p more right?" ]

Americans are hideously fat lol. What's wrong with you seriously, why isn't there more fat shaming?

Somebody has to be at the front of this mile-long freight train of narcissistic and self-destructive delusion. We didn't ask for this responsibility. It was thrust upon us, by virtue of being the only country not blown to shit after the last world war. That allowed us to leverage our vast resources, engine of innovation, and can do spirit to grow so much fucking corn sugar that we have no choice but to practically force feed it to every citizen through a garden hose sized IV, all the while waging a war on drugs as innocuous as weed at the same time alcohol and tobacco are sold on every street corner.

Irony this thick doesn't grow on trees. It takes work. And lots and lots of propaganda.

Aren't the prices at Starbucks following the same logic ?

What's to stop people from buying size small or medium cups and waddling to a self-serve beverage station for refills? Crap marketed to kids like Lunchables is far worse. It's "a meal" loaded with little else but fat, starch and sodium.

I consume beverages with artificial sweetener, another type of poison I guess.

Please check your body fat percentage with Omron or Tanita scale. If you're above 12%, that means you're fat which is very likely since you drink 2 litres of Mt Dew everyday.

I'm 6'2, 155lbs and drink a full 2 liters of Mt Dew every day.

It's not making me obese; outside of that one vise, I eat 5 times more healthy than the average america - even without trying.

Stupid idea. The public should be made aware of the dangerous things in their food so that they can make their own choices (no one can possibly know what kind of shit is in their food without a little help unless they grow every damn item).

It's super cheap to make healthy meals, it just takes time. Many people don't have that time or don't want to spend it cooking. To me that is sad. Eating healthy is one of the most effective ways to keep up your energy level and immune system. I can make a bunch of different meals for cheap in under 30 minutes.

Spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread for 2-3 ~$14
Chicken stir-fry with peanut sauce for 2-4 ~$12-16
Tortilla soup for 4-6 ~$18
Chili (with veggies and ground-round) for 4 ~$14

The problem is people don't know how to grocery shop anymore. If you buy some peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, chicken, beef, pasta sauces, bread and a few side dishes you can eat different meals three times a day every day for a week for under $50. Instead you have, "poor" people drinking bottled water, $3 energy drinks and eating $5 frozen dishes, then going out to McDonald's when they run out of microwave food. It seems more expensive to buy fresh ingredients until you understand how many different meals you can make from $20 in vegetables and meat.

Why is that anyone's business but his? Are you suggesting that the State makes all of our personal dietary decisions for us? I don't think you are, just sayin'.

God, are you a fucking idiot.

He's 6-2 and weighs 155#, douchebag. Do the fucking math.

I'm 6-2 and go 255. And I'm NOT obese. I was a defensive Lineman if that gives you a point of reference, and I'm not more than one waist size away from college.

At 6-2, 155# that guys a fucking BEANPOLE. He couldn't possibly drink enough MD to even make weight, much less get FAT.

And who the fuck revived this shithead thread anyways?
