WAKE UP and EXERCISE your *CIVIL RIGHTS* NOW! Do NOT sleep through this election!

Votes do count. Elections do matter.

Businesses are leaving CA daily and leaving for other states/countries. You do not think that if CA citizens voted in Texas type politicians this would be happening?

What about the tax changes 2013 thread in STS recently. You think that would be headed your way had enough bee diligent and exercised their votes? What about all the health care taxes etc?

Elections matter. You can get ivory tower on me and say its all the same, but it isn't. In many ways that directly impact my life, there is a difference.

Too much philosophy and not enough real world experience around here. It's amazing.

You want change? Try impacting your local school boards or counties. Find a candidate you can support, get them elected, and then help advance them from that point forward.

You can get a person into congress for just a couple million. Mayor of LA - couple million. City council in LA - much less. I imagine it is even cheaper in many cities most of you live in. A few votes in your favor and BAM! you have change.

It takes under $100K for a supervisor in Riverside County. Crap those guys make decisions every day that cost me way more than that as a RE Developer.

Quit bitching, stand up and do something about the situation. That is how the system is designed. I mean, in CA, I can get any law I want as a citizen placed on the ballot. Write the law, gather signatures ($1M), garner ad support and BAM! its the law of the state. Garnering support of course is key, the fact is that many ideas are not worthy of public support, but if yours is, then you just made a law.

The US system can last forever if people simply stand up and make things happen.

How about all of you spend some time influencing groups to make it something non-desirable again to be on public support unless you absolutely need it. The group here has the power to change opinions. But rather than take action everyone just bitches and moans that it is not possible. Thank God you guys were not around in 1776.

It seems like a "feel-good" quote for politic buffs. Reads well and sounds good, but says very little.
I've always seen it as a less-than-perfectly-accurate reminder to the masses that what you've got has a shelf life. For that it serves its' purpose well.

The reason it's true(ish) is because mankind is so flawed, with a natural cycle to get lazy and let themselves be enslaved by those who seek power around them cyclically.

I believe that the realization of an actual Voluntaryist society would be the first time humanity wouldn't be caught in that cycle anymore... Perhaps some other problem would take its' place but christ, can't people accept that the way we've been doing it before was completely wrong and needs to be left behind like a buggy whip?

Votes do count. Elections do matter.
On a local level, maybe, but even then only if you have a low set of standards for what you'll accept as 'good government.' (Which is a repulsive concept in of itself.)

Businesses are leaving CA daily and leaving for other states/countries. You do not think that if CA citizens voted in Texas type politicians this would be happening?
1. Not if their votes aren't being recorded/reported properly.
2. So what? I'd like to see ALL government take a jump off my planet, meanwhile you're advocating a change that very few would even notice... And half of those noticing it would oppose it, because that's how politics works.

What about the tax changes 2013 thread in STS recently. You think that would be headed your way had enough bee diligent and exercised their votes?
Of course. All federal-level voting here is bread and circuses with pre-determined outcomes, period.

Elections matter. You can get ivory tower on me and say its all the same, but it isn't. In many ways that directly impact my life, there is a difference.
That's only because you have a very low set of standards. You're constantly ok with voting for evil simply because it's the lesser of two evils, and so evil is what you'll get. Afterall, you not only are "ok" with it, but you actively VOTED for it!

You want change? Try impacting your local school boards or counties. Find a candidate you can support, get them elected, and then help advance them from that point forward.
And watch as the lobbyists and special interest groups corrupt them like every politician in political history save Ron Paul.

It's kinda heartbreaking, actually. I'd advise against it. (Yes, that's experience talking.)

Quit bitching, stand up and do something about the situation. That is how the system is designed.
Yes, it was. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1776. Since then, pretty much every good part of that system has had its' teeth removed by countless waves of lobbyists and special interest that make the system far too evil to be worthy of anyone's time to save. You don't have the same protections anymore that it offered you originally to fight the corruption that is now in power.

This is one of many reasons why Anarchy will not work.

You are full of crap. Change can be made.
I can see you at the beginning of a revolution saying, "The system's fixed, why try" - Who's lazy now?

I am so sick of the "why try" mentality around here. Pathetic. So many around here have plenty of money to make change occur and yet would rather collect checks and stack cash without investing time into ensuring the system that allowed that activity survives. Take what you can, stash it away and screw the rest right?

Of course. All federal-level voting here is bread and circuses with pre-determined outcomes, period.

Until you have your own elected officials in the mix. Stay with me here for the comment below...

You missed my point in the earlier post. You can be the influencer. You can make change happen. You.

I know exactly how all of this works, the lobbyists, etc. All of it. You forget that I worked for years in the CA office of an international lobbyist firm directly tied to Cheney in the late 80's early 90's. I can tell you the program from A-Z. Especially when they broke it apart and I went to work for the top Lobbying firm in Cali - they too are disbanded now.

You can make change. Believe it or not Hellblazer has been saying this forever but no one noticed.

@guerilla - derp. that's it?

Doesn't anyone around here have actual street smarts?

One last thing. Those that are upset because Ron Paul is not at the top of the ticket - you need to get a grip. There are plenty of people that do not like him nor like his ideas. That's the system. I tried to like Paul, but he is way too far out in his ideas. That is not because I have fallen prey to the media, I simply do not like his ideas. Not everything is a conspiracy, get out of your social bubbles.

This is one of many reasons why Anarchy will not work.
I'm aware that you think this but I'm also aware that there are solutions for this given in the AnCap model can overcome this if only a society can be created in that fashion without outside influence.

Change can be made.
I can see you at the beginning of a revolution saying, "The system's fixed, why try" - Who's lazy now?
You keep forgetting that some of us can see that politics cannot win our objectives.

I am so sick of the "why try" mentality around here. Pathetic.
Which is all the more funny once you realize that no one has it... We know exactly why we shouldn't try:

Because it's not laziness to refuse to fight the pentagon with your peashooter.

So many around here have plenty of money to make change occur and yet would rather collect checks and stack cash without investing time into ensuring the system that allowed that activity survives. Take what you can, stash it away and screw the rest right?
"The rest," including you, are in our way from removing the government. This heinous group of assholes actually LIKE the government, many because they want suck on government tit, many more because they just lack imagination or are afraid of the unknown...But the worst, in my opinion, are those people that you know, the ones taking advantage of the system... Politicians & lobbyists.

Evil parasites, sucking the lifeblood out of everyone else... Of course they'd argue for it!

You accuse voluntaryists of being out to "Screw the rest" and you yourself have worked as a lobbyist...

Fuck me that's ironic!

Voluntaryists (who believe in the NAP) want to EMPOWER the people so there are no victims except those that refuse to help themselves. We want to REMOVE the 900-lb gorilla in the room beating up every victim we have today, keeping everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE from being as free as they'd like to be.

The more you argue for a government to exist, the more apparent your motives are.

No, I can assure you I didn't forget this. You've been on every Voluntaryist's radar here since telling us this last year. ;)

I tried to like Paul, but he is way too far out in his ideas. That is not because I have fallen prey to the media, I simply do not like his ideas.
Lulz... Would a tick like the dog's idea to scratch it?

where were all you 'vote now' people when George Bush took over?

Let me guess.... You let it slide? And you were afraid to act by yourself?

sooooo all them troops like u basically......... allowed yourself to get ran over, basically making your vote neutral............... end of story

the good ol' USA is very manipulative and controlling........ some kid just made a whole 'twitter act' about this. He kept asking if it's a free speech country then said something about the president.. then he got jailed LOL

I mean seriously though... until people start DEMANDING the highest value on our own lives, it's going to be a decline that can't be fought. Let somebody threaten your life on twitter and you take it to a judge, he'll laugh at you and watch you die in coming months like it's nothing... b/c to our political system the only people that matter is those with money or the man of many ties

Evolution kills the weakest... just how it's going to go. And the only ones that will be able to help the weak is people with money.

The so-called "5%" perhaps............ 10% will rule with an iron hand not caring about you, your kids, or your family.........the other 85% will be pigs in the slaughterhouse.

i mean ... most people have accepted the fact they are paying more at grocery stores to eat normal food? LOL Organic is a fancy way of saying 'normal' ..... do you really grasp how deep that concept & manipulation point is?

most 18+ people know better but will still decide against doing better..................... you can't change that and save yourself at the same time ... only the youth = hope and they can't vote

i do believe in Ron however... but i think if he somehow won........... it would be the shortest presidential stay since JFK

Votes do count. Elections do matter.

Why would I waste my time voting, so someone like this comes into the booth right after me and washes my vote away?

Why is this persons vote equal to my vote?

If a person is unable to financially support themselves, why should they be allowed to vote? Too incompetent to care for yourself, but totally capable of knowing who the president should be?

I'd rather not waste my time and play that game.

every election has been rigged since the 1st president

i feel like a retard for ever registering to vote in the puppet show in the first place

I am going to read up on Voluntaryism.

For now I see it devolving into something similar to the TV Show "Revolution". Some crazy activist decides to hasten the world to the end and does something crazy like letting out a virus or starting a nuclear war, or as in the show, eliminating electricity just to set things back.

Then everyone will be OK for a time until someone decides he wants to rule. That's when it will all devolve into war and then eventually into a government system that will bring us back to where we are today.

I love how the AnCap's fee their local dispute organizations will not be subject to corruption etc. Then someone will pay an influencer (lobbyist) to lean on/pressure/pay off one of the organizations members and it will be just like lobbying.

and LukeP. I doubt if I am any radar around here. I am certain all but 1 or 2 would have any recollection of me or my posts if asked a few minutes after reading. One more thing, I worked for the lobbyists, I was not one myself. I was just in my 20's observing and taking note of the way things worked.

I am going to read up on Voluntaryism.
You reading up on Voluntaryism is like my dog telling me he is going to learn calculus.

Don't waste your time. It's unlikely you have ever applied critical thinking to any social problem. I doubt you're capable of starting now. You're completely ignorant of philosophy, ethics, economics, political theory, history etc.

You don't even realize that your petit critiques are pathetic because they highlight your ignorance, as you shamelessly criticize something you admit you don't understand. No one is challenged or impressed, because those critiques read like the thoughtless babbling of a moron.

That's typical in stupid people. Stupid people rarely realize how stupid they are. They actually think they are smart, and can be quite loud about it. (see pewep)

That's good news for me, because I know I'm dumb as fuck. So that must mean I am a smart idiot. Better than just being a common idiot, like you losers.

I may be dumb as a box of rocks, but I'm smart enough to know it.

come at me idiots.

I am going to read up on Voluntaryism.
Glad to hear it. I recommend starting by getting a much better working knowledge of what the free market is and why it is uncorruptable.

For now I see it devolving into something similar to the TV Show "Revolution".
Lol! Referencing TV shows about anarchists to us is kinda like referencing Pro-war propaganda to pacifists. Did you intend it as a taunt?

Please learn about the free market bro. LOTS.

One more thing, I worked for the lobbyists, I was not one myself. I was just in my 20's observing and taking note of the way things worked.
Oh, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt there, putting you squarely in the camp of those who "just lack imagination or are afraid of the unknown."

Since you've seen how the enemy of freedom works close-up and grew accustomed to it in your youth, It is apparently more difficult for you to think like a free person... Just keep working at it, you can get there one day if you study up on the Austrian school & voluntaryism enough.

You reading up on Voluntaryism is like my dog telling me he is going to learn calculus.

Don't waste your time...
As much as this cruel post made me snicker, I gotta say G, that's just not helpful to the cause, bro!

Even though there isn't a good chance of helping him see the light, the words you've written here today will be seen by others, and now he and others are both going to be more likely to relate Voluntaryism with snide insults... Working against your long-term goal. That goes double for all the "Derping" you've done on this thread too. :ugone2far:

Lukep,

Your style of preaching, or word-spreading, or town crier-y overshadows the majority of the points you argue in a way that reminds me of those Westboro Baptist Church folk. I'm sure you've made a great argument somewhere in your post history, but your inability to first empathize and then propose a new idea to the people you speak to undermines your "cause", which I assume is to spread the word about Free Markets.

Take that advice for what it's worth, I'm not posting to debate your ability to inspire.

What I am curious about - and this is because of the *source* link in Guerilla's sig - are recommended reads about the concept of Free Markets. I'm just curious.

As much as this cruel post made me snicker, I gotta say G, that's just not helpful to the cause, bro!
Don't think for one minute you know what my cause is.

You and I are not friends, we don't share ideas, and we're not in a foxhole together.

like this

This is going to sound shitty, but they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Anyone getting assistance from the government outside of a few things like VA benefits shouldn't have a vote. They'll just vote for more handouts like they're currently doing.
