So, when is Texas going to secede?

They couldn't do it by themselves but they could always try to unite with all the neighboring red states and if they get FL then it's serious business. #AintGonnaHappen

Everyone will secede when the federal reserve note approaches it's intrinsic value, which is zero.

Well, they still receive a shitload of welfare + billions in government subsidies. They ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

Actually, Texas economy was on the long end of the stick when the economy tanked a few years ago. Our unemployment has been, and currently is lower than the national average, and we have paid more into gov't programs than we receive for the last ~10 years.

Texas could be an independent country, we have everything we would need in terms of GDP, and exports--doesn't mean it's going to happen, though, and I seriously doubt that any of us would live to see the day that Texas does secede.

Oil is traded in dollars therefore dollar will stay 'strong'. If you try to trade oil in any other currency the us will put their brand spanking new F35's to use.

or until the bankers says it's time for a change and give another country a shot at the title.

People used to talk about if TX secedes, Louisiana and Arkansas will join them. They would take with them most of the oil fields, plus Wal-mart.

^How many are illegals?

A lot I'm sure, but the amount of eligible voters is also trending in a way that doesn't bode well for the Republican party in its current form.

You guys imagine imagine that something the size of Texas is one big unified object. While succeeding is unlikely, it is just as likely that Texas would split into 5 states, an option that has also been discussed. I would probably choose to move to the Weird Republic of Austin then.

Of course you know all about that Mr. Goldberg

Succeeding at what is unlikely?

Or in other words, never.
Secession has happened many times through human history, I don't know why you would argue it is impossible when that is empirically not true.

We have more national governments today than we had 100 years ago. In a world where every territory is under government, that can only mean that some states have split up.
