The Official 2013-2014 NFL Thread

As someone from the PNW who has rooted for the Seahawks since 1979 (and the Lions since 1983, what can I say, I like to suffer), Fiver's posts on football in general and the Seahawks in particular are an embarrassment.

Russell Wilson is Drew Brees x Aaron Rodgers with a dash of Cam Newton. Wat?

Hey fuckhead, I never said Wilson was as good as Brees or Rodgers. BTW, thanks for reminding me of all the douchbags we have as fans.

Yeah, that was me. It's right up there. Seriously, he's a more mobile Brees in a way scaled back offense with the efficiency of a Rodgers and a dash of Cam's ground game. Time will tell the truth of this statement.

You're still an idiot when you talk football.

NFC East sucks..

I doubt Seahawks can stop the MANNING.

I dont think Seahawks merged with the 9ers can stop Manning right now. He is in beast mode for sure. R. Wilson is a good QB, all he has to do is be above average to win, their D alone can win games.

Lol, they've lost their two of their best defensive players, if not the best. Dumerville to the Ravens and Von Miller to the living room couch. BTW, Miller has an outstanding warrant in California so he'll likely be missing the away games at Oak and SD. Plus there's a good chance he'll get suspended for a few more by Goodell. Dude could easily miss 10 games this year.

Mean while 4 - 0, 44.8 points per game avg, #1 ranked offense, #1 ranked rushing defense later and I am wondering when they will start showing the effects you talk about?

NFL has their storyline/s if it's a Seahawks-Broncos SB.

2nd year up-and-coming QB of the future going up against one of the QB greats of all time.

Not to mention the best defense in the NFL going up against the best offense.

The Jets were worse than last year when they sacked Tebow on every play.

But there was also:

Jake Locker still in the hospital with a hip injury, and they are not saying much else, except he may be out 4-8 weeks. That means the Titans will be starting Ryan Fitzpatrick against KC, Seattle, SF, Indy(2 games) and probably Denver...

I was wrong. But our first real test wasn't until last night.
You're a pussy. You should be a Jet fan.

I'm a Jet fan. And I am totally at odds with my fellow fans, who have been opining en masse the bizarre notion that the Dolphins 3-0 is more daunting than the Pats 3-0 ... because the Pats are "weak this year".

Even Pats fans (especially within my circle of friends and family) had been saying this nonsense, where a 3-0 that doesn't come with gaping one-sided beatdowns is somehow illegitimate and that there must be something wrong.

Losing games means there's something wrong.

So then I'm like, hello assholes - listen to me: The Patriots haven't had a losing regular season since 2000 (have won 10 games or more since 2003, including a 16-0 season) and have had Brady & Belichick the whole time.

And now the Dolphins start 3-0 and my faggot co-fans have been worried about fucking fucking Tannehill and blowing off the Pats as the team we'll beat in a rubber match at a later date. Seriously.

It seems like if we can't spend a September howling about our upcoming Superbowl appearance we'll throw the fucking Dolphins on the pedestal.

Betting men: take the Saints (-7) tonight. People don't go broke betting home teams on Monday nights anyway.

I doubt Seahawks can stop the MANNING.

We got to see five drives in the preseason 1st team Denver O against 1st team Seattle D. The only thing that slowed down Manning was his teamates fumbling. Seattle corners took away DT and Decker on the outside so Manning just went inside to Welker and Julius. Final score looked like it was all Seattle but in reality, Manning did whatever he wanted. 5 drives, 2 ended in punts, 2 in turnovers, 1 TD. If he stays healthy, they're the team to beat.

Frankly, I can't believe their new LT has held up so far. However, it's only a matter of time before Chris Clark blows an assignment and gets Manning killed before the playoffs begin.

I'm putting this here for future reference

Redskins win the NFC East.

They'll be leading the division when they beat the cowboys in two weeks.

San Francisco 49ers safety Donte Whitner, who has revealed he was fined $21,000 by the league for a hit during last Thursday night's victory over the St. Louis Rams, said Wednesday he's dropping the "W" from his last name.

"I actually put the paperwork in yesterday afternoon. Just waiting to get the paperwork out," he said in a conference call with the Houston media. "So from here on out until I retire, my name will be Donte Hitner, without the W."

Earlier Wednesday, he had revealed his name change in a tweet.

It's official...The W is being removed from my last name from Whitner to Hitner...GM

"That's what I do. It's my last name and removing a letter makes it pretty cool," he said, adding that some fans already call him "Hitner" anyway.

The name change will not be cheap for Whitner. A league official told ESPN's Darren Rovell that NFL rules stipulate that if a player changes his name during an NFL season, he is required to purchase all the remaining inventory of merchandise with the old name that hasn't been sold.

G-Men season just about over. But they got a 10 year pass from me after they pulled off that miracle in 2008 (10-6 record).

and pulled it off again a few yrs later
