Russian Army Invades Ukraine And Seizes Crimea

If the Mexican Army decided to roll into California or Texas to "protect" it's own people it would be a big problem. I don't get why it's different in the Ukraine.

lol it wouldnt be a big problem. It would be over before it started.

This is now starting to affect the Russian economy.

The rouble has fallen to it's lowest level ever against the dollar:

The Russian central bank has spent $10 billion today defending the rouble and has raised interest rates by 150bp.

What a waste.

Putin is off his trolley - he's spent so long living in the Tsar's old palace that he's lost touch with reality.

There's something to be said for forcing leaders to stand down after 8 years. They all go bonkers if allowed to stay longer than that.

Why isn't it a big problem when the US does it to its southern neighbors?

The US has been involved in direct military incursions in Latin America over TWENTY-FIVE times.

And that's not including indirect support through aid and "advisers."

The former Polish Oblasts (or provinces) were Lviv, Ivano Frankivsk, Ternopil, Volhynia and Rivne.

Transcarpathia was actually Czechoslovak till 1938 then Hungarian during the War.

Cernivtsi and the southern part of Odessa Oblast were Romanian 1919-1940 and again 1941-44.

They belong with their brothers in the EU

Yes, that is exactly why claiming Ukraine to be one country is a problem. Half is European, half is Russian. Half wants to be Euro members, half want to be Russian.

The obvious solution is then a split, but that would put EU and Russia with direct borders to each other, which smart people probably don't want.

The sensible solution would be for Ukraine, Russia and the EU to have constructive talks about economic help from both sides and to agree to not meddle too much in Ukraine going forward. Perhaps allow greater autonomy for local governments there.

That is of course naive, when geo-politics is at play from both sides.

The major problem I have is the completely over the top defamation and scare mongering of Russia the last couple of years. The olympics gay agenda for example, it must be possible to allow Russia to run their own country.

Again, this is naive thinking because neo-cons in the US and EU globalists don't care much for sensible compromise and neither does Putin.

Wait... you mean... situations aren't black and white, good and bad?

I wonder what % of the population of the west views things under such a Disney/Hollywood type paradigm?

People are stupid, and a good thing for many members here. It never ceases to amaze me just how many people out there just aren't very bright.

Mexico Messes with Texas!

Somebody call Chuck Norris! Today the Mexican
Army invaded Texas in response a fence dispute.
Texas offered to pay for the construction but
demanded that Mexico provide the labor. Rest of
story on page 6.

What do you guys think of this. West pushed this whole thing over and expects Russia to just sit there and take it.
There are laws to impeach a sitting president. Democracy was broken in the name of democracy.
Or perhaps someone needs puppets in Ukraine. Nobody gives a shit about people. Get real.
