Right and left politics are the game as it is played today. You can be idealistic (and entirely ineffective) from here until eternity or you be marginally pragmatic and throw your hat in on one side
Hitler was a pragmatist.

Jesus was not.

I'd rather be more like Jesus than Hitler thanks.

No, it's an honest argument. Obama's budget came out today. He wants cap and trade.

There is no proof CO2 or man even causes global warming, and Obama wants to use it as a tax grab.

If we don't create CO2, the plants can't produce oxygen.

But most people are too fucking stupid to keep up with the fact that Al Gore has been debunked and the scientific community is trying to distance itself from climate (kook) science.

That's the problem with electing someone and thinking they are smarter than you. They aren't.

The scientific community as far as I know is unanimous when it comes to global warming. I'm in the camp that we should take steps to reduce carbon emissions that destroy habitats and destroy the atmosphere. If in fact we're wrong and we're just not understanding the massive cycles of weather patterns, I still think it's a good idea to keep the earth clean. However, I have seen way to many examples of how manafacturing and industrial plants have destroyed villages and towns by polluting the air and the water supply. So I think that this is a real concern, not a liberal trick to get taxes. Second, we should be moving away from dirty fossil fuels that keep us addicted to middle east oil.

I believe that if we play our cards right we can emerge as a world leader in renewable energy, completely independent from foreign oil, which in turn would link up with our dominance in web technology, another American invention. This would set up America to be a much more dynamic super power for decades. That to me is part of the big picture.

Listen, you're preaching to the choir. I'm an anarchist at heart. I'd love to see a revolution as bloody as Jean Paul Marat's.
Real anarchists oppose violence based upon the non-aggression principle.

The only problem is that revolutionaries often transform into the despots and dictators they fought to replace.
Then they were opportunists. True anarchists oppose hierarchies and coercion the two tools of despots.

I suppose all we can do is become detached observers of this fucking circus. This is why we sling pixels, so that we can get off the social grid.
That's why I do it.

Perhaps we should go from a representational democracy to a direct democracy like the Swedish.
Democracy is just mob rule. It's a lousy system that institutionalizes aggression.

LOL...your right about a peaceful revolution, I just like to be bombastic.

Although I am a big fan of Ghandi, The Dhali Lama, and MLK, yet violence is just so sexy. We could also become buddist but you see what the Chinese do to people who are peaceful, and they are just a microcosm of human nature. The world is a fucking vampire my friend.

Democracy is sort of a mob rule. Would you prefer an aristocracy? I'm down, so long as part of the royal fam.

and we are back to Godwin

amazing.
No. I'm just sick of valueless arguments for pragmatism. They are anti-intellectual and amoral.

It's very easy to make an utilitarian argument for anything. If the Foundnig Fathers had been pragmatists, they would not have had a revolution. They would still be Englishmen.

While you are entitled to live any way you want, pragmatism isn't a valid reason (in my opinion) to justify evil. It is not ok to imprison the innocent, even if that is what the laws say. It is not ok to drop bombs on civilians, even if that is what happens every day around the world.

How about a voluntary society where you do what you want with your property, I do what I want with my property, if we cooperate, we honor our contracts, if we do our own thing, that is cool as long as we don't damage the other or his property?

In other words, just an intelligent, peaceful and rational coexistence. You wanna smoke pot? Cool. I wanna have anal sex with hairy men? My business. No need to pass laws against one or the other.

you sir are an idiot.

you dont short markets in a correction trying to catch a bull market.

also we are not in deflation strictly speaking, can you honestly say that the trillions being pumped into the financial system are contracting the money supply?

credit used to (and actually still does) give us a eye-boggling amount of leverage for each dollar that exists. once that leverage is no longer available, people still need it for day to day activity which means they use a much higher dollar/debt ratio than they would have used too meaning higher demand for dollars. either way the value of the dollar is still increasing despite the amount of injection the government is doing whether it be disinflation or deflation.

another way to look at it is to put credit and the dollar in the same category since the dollar really is based off nothing, it's just a piece of paper we give value too, hence it pretty much is just credit just as debt itself is a number represent these things we call dollars.

If there is $3 and $7 of debt, the money supply is $10, yet when you take away $6 of debt (the credit crunch) and add in $3 more dollars (the government injections), then you have $6 dollars and $1 a debt. This leads to a lower supply. Now on the demand side, the people still need the supply to be $10 to get their business deals and the like done, so they increase the value of the dollar to make up for the debt not there leading to higher demand. A lower supply and a higher demand always leads to a higher value.

dollar amounts stayed the same, but yet usdx would collapse and youd be looking at hyperinflation. the only thing to put a floor to the dollar at that point would be remonetizing gold. this brings us back to the original formula: outstanding foreign treasury obligations / oz's at fort knox.

default on debt = best solution

fuck em.

Well a direct democracy is the closet you'll get in the model you speak of. This is why the Nordic countries rank highest in happiness among their citizens when compared to other developed countries.

The only problem with that is that there's not enough gold to go back to a gold standard simply due to the scale of the United States economy.

I'll swap with you guys... I've been living in Bucharest, Vienna and Manila... and I'm dieing to move to the US - prolly LA... so stop complaining! WHINERS!

Dude, we have nothing else better to do while we're slinging php across the interwebz...lol

Learn some goddamn history. We were attacked from an extremist foe that Clinton failed to kill and had the chance to (possibly too busy getting blow jobs in the oval office).

We had (even after New York was attacked and the towers toppled) 6 years of unprecedented wealth and prosperity. We have not been attacked again and have uncovered dozens of plots to do so since the first attack.

Bush is not in office at the moment. The fag Liberals crusified him for 8 years calling him a thief, war monger etc. ( now you get arrested for voicing negative views on BO). Get over it..hold the current President accountable for his actions. Don't let that hardon you get when he speaks from a telepromter, cloud your judgment.

Actually, you should take some time out and learn some history. I gotta admit you have some balls going to bat for a man that was basically a mental midget, and will probably go down as the worst president ever.

"Unprecedented wealth and prosperity"...are you fuckin kidding me? Bush took a budget surplus at the beginning of his administration, and turned it into the largest deficit in history, he increased the size of government by 40%, trampled on the Bill Of Rights, and turned the worst natural disaster in a century into a PR nightmare(great job Brownie). All while getting assraped by China to pay for a war that in the end will cost over 2 Trillion.

You talk about holding Obama accountable, fine, I mean the dudes only held office for a little over 60 days, so I feel your pain. But you seem so willing to drop your great standards of accountability for the last douchebag that basically bankrupted America. Your hypocrisy is almost tangible.

Repugs and their tenets of "trickle down economics" have basically run America for the last 30 years, and your seeing the results. Meanwhile the clowns that put them in power are running for the hills screaming "socialism" thinking America will be the next Sweden.

Face it, Reagonmics failed bigtime! Who else is gonna clean up the mess? Get a grip, and check your facts!

I just don't understand how creating millions of government jobs will remedy the situation.
I like to think simple, I always thought simple things work. Instead of giving all this power to the "oh so responsible with our money government" (Who already proved they can run our Social Security system and Public Schools very well) Why not create some crazy tax brakes for small and mid size companies. Let the opportunistic go-getters do their thing with the extra cash on hand. Maybe create more flexibility and decrease licensing fees for the local professionals. Its a start.

Love this country - Emigrant from former USSR. My home now - my ass is very warm here.
All the Aussie and Canadian fucks who live in the protection and opportunities created by US. Shut the fuck up. Cause the Russians will get your weak asses.
