As soon as Americans become poor, the rest of the world will become Dirt Poor.
America has the entrepreneurial laws, habits, patents, ideals, investors and attitude to retake the world #1 spot in less than 20 years. And this time, America will be stronger, as long as it bans the sale of Acai scams and Subprime loans.

If America becomes poor, China will lose 50% of it's jobs, India will lose 60% of it's outsourcing income. Russian cash reserves will disappear by then.

Can someone ban this ebook asshole please.

I really don't think that we'll instantly head to third-world-nation status if this happens, man.

I guess that's where we differ. If the globe switches to a new reserve currency, all the nations that currently hold the dollar will dump them. This is a massive amount of dollars alone, however the introduction of so many back into our money supply will cause high inflation.

Best case, yes, prices of goods rise and the dollar's value worsens. Worst case, you'd need a wheelbarrow of cash to get a Big Mac at your local Mickey D's.

You know, fuck this shit.

I don't buy any of this crap and yet you still have me thinking ZOMG TEH CHINEEEZE ARE COMING!! It's like the fucking religious nuts and their stupid Apocalypse. It's bunch of malarkey bullshit, but yet it still gets to you sometimes.

Stupid Alarmists.

You're like a optimistic skater who skates on dangerous thin ice on an iced pond. Thinking the ice is thick does not make the skater safer, nor make the ice thicker.

The Chinese is better off without the USA. Right now I see China as a slave to USA, exchanging products for useless currency, bloody pointless. USA is a parasite to China. Yes, initially jobs will be lost but then the Chinese will start manufacturing for their own country and will prosper.

wow, I got a -rep for stating my opinion on politics. awesome

We touched on the same topic in a MBA class and come to the same conclusion.

NO fuckhead I minus repped you because you are an ebook cunt!

Nothing to do with your posts, you've been here since 2006 & you're promoting ebooks? GTFO

Yep it will be painful for USA. Have to start paying for oil etc using a real currency.
Look what happened to Iraq when they were going to lead the way to the arab world in selling oil in Euros, weapons of mass destruction were suddenly a hot topic!

There's still probably 15 country's with a higher national debt by percentage of their GDP. In 2007 we were at about 60%. Even Canada's was higher. We're probably up to about 78% now if you use 14trillion as the gdp number.. If the rest of the list stayed constant we'd still only be at 16.

I love this. This conveys exactly what I think these types of threads do.

Lol that's a pretty funny picture..

I'm not necessarily panicked though, and I don't want to panic others. I wrote 'THIS IS HUGE' because if it did happen, it would be a historical event that would fundamentally alter the balance of power. It would be huge, imho.

I do think its good to be aware of these possibilities and remain alert to the fact that they could happen.

Like I said, talk of a new reserve currency has been floated around for years, but never gotten anywhere. This, however, was the first time China's official government has ever publicly contemplated it.

In the end, I'd rather be vigilant and aware of what's going on than apathetic and uninvolved. If that's panic, guilty as charged.
