Attack On Military Base In Texas By Multiple Gunmen - 7 Dead, 20 Injured

You kidding me? You have more than you think.
There's probably no shortage of WF members who pay extra for that sort of treatment!

Well I consider there to be a difference between logical debate and passionate extremism. I'm still guilty of the latter, but it's really only on a couple of issues. Most of what I talk about here is just either intellectuality posturing or the pure amusement from poking at the bears in this forum.

It's so ironic that we are battling extremists in Iraq and Afghanistan and we had an identified extremist on our own team.

There should be some kind of protocol to get rid of him before this happened. (kick him out of the army and keep him off the base)

I don't know how the Army could have done it without seeming discriminatory, however, it's alot worse to keep someone who so closely fits the profile of the enemy in the ranks.

I would think after his speech at the podium... that would have been enough to get him out of there. I mean he stood up there and said things like "you are condemned to hell. Your head is cut off. You're set on fire. Burning oil is burned down your throat. " Isn't that enough? Wild stuff.

Flipped it on msnbc a while ago and two douchebags were enabling the terrorists. One from CAIR who was playing the "muslims are victims" card and another who doesn't think we should be trying to link the shooter to the 911 attackers.
Maybe they have a point. Maybe all the world's ills could be solved by forming a huge circle jerk and pretending radical islam doesn't really exist or that it isn't really a threat.

Well the doctor is awake and talking. No word on whether or not he is able to move his legs. Fort Hood shooting suspect conscious, talking, hospital says - CNN.com

I wonder how they will attempt to interrogate him, especially in light of his attempt to contact Al-Queda 6 months ago (which the Federal Intelligence agencies knew about, but did not inform mother Army). If someone is willing to die-by-cop fear-based measures will be useless.

We have thrown gobs of money at producing better intelligence but over the last ten years we've seen over and over again that it is ineffectual and potentially catastrophic if the collection agencies don't communicate with one another.

waterboard his ass.

waterboard his ass.

Yeah, let's show them we can be terrorists too. :thumbs down:

I can't believe they are still debating what this guy's motivations were. I keep hearing on TV we're not sure how much religion was a factor. (like they're playing it down)

We have his writings, his "allah akbar!" yellings, his podium speech, his supposed attempted contact with al-qaeda, etc. Geez.

Are they scared to talk negatively about religion?

Are they scared to talk negatively about religion?

In a word, yes.

The same media that never mentions Obama's middle name walks on eggshells w/r/t religious motivations, especially as they veer in the direction of possibly offending CAIR. Overcompensatory post-9/11 media backlash.

Facts are facts. I wish the major news networks would report them impartially with even distribution and allow people to develop their own opinions.

Damn media. :censure: Thank goodness for the internets.

Edit: I guess to be fair.... there are over 100 Muslim soldiers at Fort Hood and maybe they're fearing a backlash against them.

This is just some of the crazy traitorous stuff I've been seeing. The media is populated by people who will not admit there is a problem with fanatical Muslims, and instead are saying a guy who was never in combat had PTSD, or they're saying his religion had nothing to do with it, or they're saying he was a random nut who just snapped - even though the guy gave away his belongings, closed down his apartment, acquired the handguns, shouted "Allahu Akhbar" during the murder spree, and glorified Islamic suicide bombers in his writings.

Newsweek. Gutter journalism, ultra-liberalism. I don't even read them anymore, and I consider myself a hardcore democrat.

waterboard his ass.

Or you could sleep deprive him, load him up on sodium thiopental or some other cortical suppressant making him substantially more open to suggestion and less able to perform complex mental tasks such as fabricating internally coherent stories, hypnotize them to further open up his suggestibility, start being really nice to him and reminding him of all the wonderful friends he has around him... and then just politely ask.

Fucking with someone's brain is likely to yield better results than fucking with their body if they're already more than happy to die for their cause.

I was stationed at ft hood for 3 of my 4 years in the Army. It's a big fucking place, about the size of Rhode Island, no joke. So he didn't just walk on base, as I have heard reported. There are a million ways to get in, and most were open when I was there.

If the Army would trust its soldiers, everyone would have been packing heat this guy would have gotten maybe two or three rounds off before he was taken down. Instead, the process of handling wepaons on post is tedious and you can't just walk around with a gun (unless you're an MP) even if you have a civilian concealed weapons license.

This TERRORIST is the rank of Major, meaning he's been in probably 10-12 years. Which means he has surely finished his commitment to the Army. Which means he could have gotten out easily any time after. Don't believe the idiots in the media saying 'he was trying to get out' in the worst case scenario he could have deserted and gotten a dishonorable discharge.

The way it work for officers is, you agree to stay in usually 4-6 years after you finish college or westpoint and you start your career at the rank of 2n lieutenant>1st lieutenant>captain>major>lt. colonel>colonel>1star>2stars>3stars>4stars

Hope he fries for this.

Why do any of this? It's not like we're lacking for evidence. Let's just get rid of him. The accepted knowledge will be that this was a lone nut that snapped and not terrorism due to the joke of a fucking media we have. And there's no point in torturing for the sake of revenge, unless there's info we actually need. This happened in Texas - dude gets death penalty and that's it. This whole thing just depresses me.

Not to be nit-picky, but he probably didn't complete his OBLISERV yet. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 97, which gives him +6 (w/ 2 yrs IRR) as an ROTC commissionee.

Thereafter he went to the Uniformed Services University medical school (graduated in 01), for which the price of a free MD education is +8 (w/4 yrs IRR). (When they graduate they are automatically 0-3's regardless of TIS). He was probably narrowly reaching the end of his OBLISERV period and was stop-lossed/ ended up on the short list to The Stan. I have had several friends who, after less-than-stellar OER's, magically wound up on a list for deployment. It wouldn't surprise me if his superior officer or whoever he pissed off back at Walter Reed to get the bad OER put him in the rotation fold.

All that said, his actions are reprehensible and the fact he is able to talk while 7 of his victims are in ICU guts me.

As I said four days ago- fuck this guy.
