WF'ers, help me and give me your opinions! I'll pay someone $25

I have 7 of the first 10 results so that's not really an issue.
No worries then. When I got asked (I had 5 of 10 at the time), I just said "Well, I already harvest most of the search traffic in my niche but let's talk about your business" and off to close we went.

These things will be at stop signs and stop lights so speed wont be an issue. I will say though, I like you sales quote.

Minimum letter size (not most optimal, minimum) rule of thumb is 1" per 10' away. I like to go 1" per 7-8' but using the minimal, and you need 1" spacing between lines of text (minimum), 3 lines would give you 4.67" letters with 4 lines of 1" space. 4 lines would give you 3.125" letters with 5 lines of 1" space. 5 lines would give you 1.6" letters. 3 line signs convert way higher than 4+, in my experience across multiple markets.

As for large format banner printing that you can screw or bungie onto someone's billboard stanchion, $2 a square foot @ EchoD graphics (360 dpi) anything over 200 square feet. You'll pay more for rent. Hit me up on AIM tomorrow if you want some more input.

Yep, you're looking at a pretty penny for anything close to billboard size re cmyk proper weatherproof creative/print. You can do simple 2 or 3 flat color which costs less but if you're doing a billboard... do quality.

If not a billboard - still apply that same thinking, make their eyes follow 3 simple steps;
*problem
*solution
*connection
- as simple as (in)humanly possible.

So for your smaller size, just do the same but make it small. Even 8.5 x 11 or poster size translate well when you do IMPACT FONT headlines and make them simple. You'll notice most billboards utilize the same fonts (usually the same ones you find in default on any editor - but IMPACT/ARIALBLACK/VERDANABOLD are most common).

Use to do tons of signage/large format shit back in my prepress days, if you do go color - make sure you get proofs from a standard press color pallette before they print (or if you don't care about shades/colors too much don't worry).

*EDIT - don't want your money...
*EDIT2 - lol wadap with your username 'from dp' < ?

It will either be black and white or I may do the word "google" in color using their exact logo. I feel like that may grab a bit more attention.

+ rep to ncmedia, and I'm not here for the cash. Just thought I'd repay some knowledge transfer on WF in honor of all those that have helped me in other areas.

just know my idea was good, could care less abt the $25, more about standing by my idea

meh, your slogan isn't really that good actually, it's generic and easy to forget. You ripped Grindstone's for not eliciting an emotional response but what kind of response does "put your business on top of google now" elicit? The sign doesn't tell me what benefit I get from being on top of google, the target demographic may not see that as clearly as aff marketers. At least grindstone tapped into the readers ego (nobody wants to be considered a failure) and survival instincts (can being at the top of google stave off failure?) I see no immediate correlation between "put your busines at the top of google now" and what that actually means for my business, is it branding, is it leads, is it sales, all of the above?

^Thx G.

Few things I'll throw in just off the cuff LY:

*Your domain targets people that know they need SEO, some/many business owners still have no clue what that even is. You have two S's beside each other < big nono - buyyellowwashroommmat. I'd get something much simpler, good one I remember was 'beseen.com' < simple and very brandable, don't worry about 'naples' so much, you can do a spin off site/page(s), after all, you're an SEO pro.

* Even though they are at stop lights, that's only catching a few rows of cars when stopped, probably in only one direction, and under a few seconds when they are moving, if you're lucky. This while they are on the phone, bopping to tunes, calming down kids/spouses.. You have a few moments for them to even care to look your direction, let alone get a pen or remember there are two ss's in the .com. Same goes for the ad - GS is correct with the 'less letters' 100% - less is more with any outdoor signage.

*Also remember you'll be competing with other ads no matter how remote of an area it may be. People have radio's, devices, flyers on their dashboard/newspaper on the other seat - so MAKE IT POP.

Haha, I see what you did there.

Brutally simple, I'm making some with my URL now, gonna sign up all the Walmart entrances tomorrow.

FREE website for your business
tel. 555 5555

i recon making them a free one they can trial out for a while is best, they can pay when getting results. should get more calls that way, i wouldn't put company website on sign, most people needing the service dunno much about google or the internet in general. maybe just stick the google logo on the sign for prestige. they will surely want the site once its on google's 1st page, if not just sell it to one of their competitors. i think you will get many more calls this way, and you can pick and choose customers, e.g. tell a single gardner some bs so he can't have a site, and tell a good lawyer company the works so u can rape them once they get some leads.

Your slogan offers no benefits to the customer, has no no emotional triggers and each of those lines would be about 3" tall on a yard sign. Completely unreadable.

@OP, some real life experience here, I tested a shit load of different yard signs for local seo and web design a couple years back. The only one that converted phone calls said:

Business Failing?
#1 On Google Can Help
Phone Number

But guess what? You don't want those broke ass motherfuckers wasting your time, because if they were any good at making money, they wouldn't be getting roped in by your promise to save their sinking business.

I know this is a crazy thought but how about ranking your site #1 for local SEO services, this and word of mouth is how I get my best local clients. And I guarantee you, if you go the sign route, someone is going to ask you "How come you have to advertise with yard signs if google is all that?".

Finally, I've been making and designing signage since 1998. If I say something is too small to be effective advertising on a yard sign, trust me, it's too small.

18"x24" yard sign: 3 lines max, centered, no more than 4 words per line. Use arial black and increase the leading. I don't care if you're driving 25 or 50, anything less will not be consistently effective.

I can't believe I just typed all this shit, back to work for me.

Great post, + rep
