Oh man I forgot, I hustled in Diablo 2. Bought rare items on ebay for $100, trade them in game for stone of jordans. SOJ's would sell $5 a pop around school, so I'd double the profit easily.
I played EverQuest for 2 years during Scars of Velious / Shadows of Luclin. Level 60 warrior on 7th hammer in the top raiding guild. I had to quit right before Senior year of high school cus I was spending literally 14 hrs a day on it. I love MMORPG's but they suck the life out of you.
5 years old - Mom would take me to Sam's club. I would buy boxes of candy for $10 and re-flip candy bars on the playground for $20 profit.
14 yrs old - I had napster and a CD burner before everyone else. Instead of buying a CD for $$20, you buy a burnt one from me for $10.
21 yrs old - I was flipping Wii's like a boss. Buy it for $250, resell for $450 on Craigslist/eBay. The was a huge shortage of Wii's, and Christmas shot up the demand. You had to wait in line for 3-4 hours Sunday mornings to get some. Not me. I paid Mexican day laborers to wait in line for me in the morning and would cut in. Every week was an easy $700 in college.
22 yrs old - Can't get into specifics, but it involved ebay and China.
I been had.
My biggest check from Alladvantage was in the $300 range which bought me my first playstation. Had to spam the fuck out of AOL chatrooms for days to get that one![]()
6-8: My family was one of the first to move into this new development so there was a ton of construction going on. Sold lemonade/drinks to construction workers, easy 20 bucks for only an hour or two of work
9-10: Most of the construction was done so I graduated to selling drinks/snacks to golfers during the summers on the golf course right down the street. It went really fucking well for being 10 years old, could make an easy $75+ in an afternoon (no idea why the fuck you golf in 110 heat but meant good money for me). I even split tested signs in front of my drink stand to see which did best (course I didn't know what split testing was, but my "saving for college" sign did the best). This stopped when the drink lady that drives around the course got pissed and shut me out.
13-14: napster + broadband to burn cds and games for kids at school. did some candy too but games and music were way more profitable. also started a shitty geocities (or some free host) website and clicked my own ads. That didn't work out too long.
Also jacked a sheet of "front of the lunch line" passes from a teacher (dumb idea) and ran off a bunch of copies. Sold individual passes for a couple bucks each and got away with it for awhile. Then a teacher figured out and I got suspended.
17-20: played/toured in bands and started booking shows on the side. I was friends with tons of bands in the southwest and got most to play for fairly cheap. Could pull $500-$2000 easy each show, my best was right around $5000 (big show, couldn't do those as often). Also started my first form of aff marketing here, reselling t-shirt printing services to other bands I had connections with.
Just say you're in Anthem......
I played in a MTG tournament once, had a few hardcore friends. I rebuilt the World Championship Psycatog deck and used it in middle school during lunch.
I was the most badass nerd around. lol
P.S. I took it so seriously I used to keep my deck in a box in the freezer since it was a blue & black deck. Seriously. lol
Nice. How do you check whether it's really gold?I used to (and still do) hunt down solid gold from old ladies at yard sales, thrift shops and flea markets that I resell at a massive profit to the refiners.
Finding a solid 23 gram 14k gold watch chain in a Santa Rosa, CA thrift shop while on vacation: priceless.
There used to be a big market for ceramic vintage tchotckas that I bought cheap and sold for big markups on Ebay, but the higher fees and recession killed off this end of the business.
What was the ebay glitch, out of interest? Assuming they've closed it?I was a clown/magician from age 8-17 doing street magic/buskering to earn some money for my candy addiction.
I sold firecrackers in grade 8, but buckled under the pressure of doing something illegal and turned myself in to the principal by mistake.
In high school I wrote/directed sketch comedy plays to make some cash in the summer for buy an Xbox.
The year I graduated high school, I got an email from some dude in Pakistan who offered me some hacky sack samples. He thought I was a reseller - so I got the samples, they were cool, and I sent him $1000 (my savings, what an idiot I was) to get 3000 hacky sacks - which I then sold all through college locally to skate shops and then on ebay for free using an ebay glitch my dad found.
Same, in year 8, (minus the rollerskates) until on my first trip, I refused to sell a £20 figure to someone because they were being a piece of shit, the little shit told on me. End of that. And I would have got £400 for that one trip if it wasn't for that. How did you do it? I went in on one of those play days, where you bring your stuff, I put my stuff in a big ikea bag. Over the course of the day, bundled everything into that. Easy, since all the staff were retards, and there was only one security cam (pointing at the £1 tins of PAINT!) and no security barriers.OK... how about this: What way your best day, PRE 16? Personally i used to steal warhammer stuff to order and once did over £300 (6-700$) in one day to order for a friend in exchange for some brand new K2 rollerskates!! Then i broke my arm.. end of skating career!
have you ever been to Roberto's?
Even during Chanukah, when the boys in each grade would play driedel religiously in a corner of the recess yard or in the boys bathroom for dimes and quarters, I had two driedels that had shaved bottoms so it would almost always fall on Gimel (the jackpot letter), but they were shaved down so that you couldn't even tell if you rubbed your finger over it or looked at it. Made fucking bank.
Ever been approached in a shopping center parking lot by guys in a van trying to sell speakers?
That was a very interesting summer.
