Anyone Drink Almond Milk?

If humans have evolved the ability to drink cows milk into old age, isn't that a sign that it is a desirable evolutionary trait?

Something like 90% of soy is genetically modified, I can't believe anyone would come near anything that contains soy.

And you think the corn that makes your Coca-Cola sweet isn't genetically modified?

You think the corn that is fed to the cow that you eat as a burger isn't genetically modified?

Everything nowadays is genetically modified. It's not as scary as people make it out to be.

Anytime humans can extract calories from their environment, evolution will tend to select for it because for 99% of human evolution, satiety wasn't guaranteed. There weren't 7-11's on every street corner. In today's age, getting sufficient calories are the least of our worries and while milk isn't "bad" for you, it has the potential to do more harm that it does good.

Antibodies to bovine beta-casein in diabetes ... [Horm Metab Res. 2002] - PubMed - NCBI
New Insights On Link Between Early Consumption Of Cows' Milk And Type-1 Diabetes

Summary: the protein found in cow's milk (casein), when fed to young infants, may be linked to the onset of Type 1 diabetes.

Humans evolved to extract calories from milk sugar (lactose). This doesn't mean we evolved to handle all the extra chemicals found in milk.

Therein lie the potential negative side effects.

On a somewhat related note, my daughter is 2 1/2 and still breastfeeds. Generally going past 1.5 or 2 years in the US is seen as "extreme"/absurd. Wife sees that shit all the time on different parenting fb groups, but the health benefits are huge and undeniable, so I have no problem with it. She's been sick 3 times which is very minimal at her age, but when she gains her mother's immunity it makes sense. Fuck american parenting culture. It's great seeing people get uncomfortable with public breast feeding, too.

I liked your post before I read the last line. Its far more scary than people make it out to be. I take my like back, and I'm going the fuck home!

dont drink coke, only eat grass fed burgers

and yes it is pretty fucking scary - you are not bothered by the fact that our food is being hardcore chemically modified without any real strong regulations (atleast in the US) - and the potential chance that the "real" version of the food will no longer exist? i mean, if that doesn't bother you, that's cool. but GMO = no go as far as i am concerned

I don't drink soda/coke, nor do I eat meat from corn-fed cows. I drink water, and when I eat beef it's free range grass fed.

It *IS* scary, you just have to pick your food carefully.

EDIT: seiux explained my exact sentiment above. we think alike.

As for milk, I don't drink milk from a cow anymore. Doesn't matter what cow it came from. The reason is that milk actually strips more calcium from your bones than it supplies your body with. If you think that's some new-age bullshit, that's fine keep drinking it. There is absolutely NO benefit from drinking milk that we can't get a similar, but greater, benefit from another source. People think the main benefit is that it helps prevent osteoporosis. WRONG. There is no independent study that has ever been done that shows this relationship.

I said better look, not better taste.
If only you could drink Almond Milk from a nice pair of tits. Oh wait..brb, putting my chinese minions to work.

A 2008 review published by the Royal Society of Medicine noted that GM foods have been eaten by millions of people worldwide for over 15 years, with no reports of ill effects. Similarly a 2004 report from the US National Academies of Sciences stated: "To date, no adverse health effects attributed to genetic engineering have been documented in the human population."The European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation 2010 report on GMOs noted that "The main conclusion to be drawn from the efforts of more than 130 research projects, covering a period of more than 25 years of research, and involving more than 500 independent research groups, is that biotechnology, and in particular GMOs, are not per se more risky than e.g. conventional plant breeding technologies."

GMO sounds a lot scarier than it actually is. The conditions that Americans are dying of every year (heart disease, stroke, diabetes, etc.) are primarily caused by obesity. People aren't getting triple-bypasses because of the GMO tomatoes they love to eat.

Health problems commence with excess calories in and insufficient calories out.
