ASW 2010 Hotels

If you are frugal (either out of necessity or desire) you can stay at The Gold Coast for less than the cost of putting a deposit down at The Rio. Internet there is $12.95/day I think.

The perk of the Rio is being able to go back and forth to your room throughout the day.

The perk of the Gold Coast is that it's right next door, you'll save $700+, and I hear they have great Dim Sum.

Your hotel room is basically just a luggage storage room/ shower facility/ place to occasionally crash. I would be surprised if I spent more than 16 hours in my room over 3 days (though some of this was a consequence of being unable to get internet access in my room at The Rio).

The Gold Coast is cheap and highly recommended based on this source. Thanks for the heads-up. Look at the reviews:

You need to book the rio through hotel deal sites (Like Hotels.com). If you try to book directly with the hotel it will be sold out.

That may have been true 3 months ago, but it's not true now.

I comparison shopped hotels.com, reservetravel, lastminutetravel, expedia/ orbitz and a couple other random ones. Everyone is asking $4-5/day more than the ASW rate as of yesterday. No one was reporting that it had sold out yet.

Yeah, I went to the RIO's website and put in the day before and day after ASW. Their site said they had no rooms at any price. I was pretty shocked but hey its possible.

I notice no one is planing on staying at the new hotels? I was thinking about one of the new ones at CityCenter.

Just went on the cheap and booked the Gold Coast for 4 nights.

Since i already booked mine a few weeks ago, do the expedia - hotel+flight deal. Averages out to $55 a night at the rio..... pending on where you are coming from of course... It was actually cheaper doing that then paying with my flyer miles oddly enough...

Stay at Encore/Wynn if you can. No reason to stay off the strip even though the conference is at the rio. Just take a cab there and back, easy. Rio and the 2 hotels around it pretty much blow, including palms place which is too far for walking to the rio and no cabs ever go there unless you call down to the front desk before you leave. Venetian is a good alternative if wynn/encore are all booked up.
