Yeah but being in the Army does not make you a competent tactical shooter. He could have been in the Adjudant Corps, a Linguist, or any of a thousand other MOS's where his time on the range would be little more than qual'ing once a year.
1 guy + 2 handguns, even with extended round mags, to shoot 31 people- including 4 SWAT officers and 1 lethally = he must have had help in the form of other weapons or other people.
I don't think Obama or anyone else wants us to believe otherwise. (He doubled the troops Bush had in Afghanistan, I know you think that's "dithering")
I don't like how he has retitled it to "Overseas Contingency Operation", but I don't like the original title of "War on Terror" either. We need to identify what the actual problem is, it should be "War on Religious Extremists" because that's what they all are.
But let's leave politics out of this tragic event please.

Additionally, this guy was supposed to be a mental health professional.
CBS is reporting Maj Hasan is a licensed psychiatrist from Maryland.
That means he could have entered post 9/11, incidentally. The Army health corps recruits medical professionals after their med schools and they come automatically at the rank of 0-3 or Captain. E.g., it's feasible he could have been in for as little as 6-7 years.
Also incidentally, if he served as an Army Psychiatrist he would have had < VERY > limited weapons training. I don't know SOP for the Army, but in the Navy/ FMF medical professionals don't even qualify except in special circumstances.
Apparently he fired 40-50 rounds. All close-up, execution-style shootings. Not particularly something you could envision a shrink doing. Very strange.
Agreed. One man with a couple of Beretta's does not do that kind of damage. He either got additional training, or had help...or both.
The shooter doesnt have PTSD, he was at Walter Reed before coming down on orders to be sent to Hood. Then he fell on orders to go to Iraq. During his time at Walter Reed the Major Converted to Islam. So maybe he didn't want to be shipped overseas to kill his spiritual brothers. Who the hell knows.
But I will tell you this, the guy is a pussy. Why not if you want to be a bad ass go into the 2nd Cavs barracks and start firing your sidearms on people? Don't go into the Processing center and start shooting up people who dont even have shit issued to them. What a joke.
I would also state the fact that there is most definitely more involved. The fact that when they shot the major all he had on him was to sidearms, and not sure if he was packing more magazines or not. But assuming he is not say each 9mm held 15 rounds ( Govt Issue ), he killed 12 and injured 31. That would mean that he either reloaded or more was involved. Then he would have to have 100% accuracy rate. No way 100% accurate unless he was on top of everyone.

Trained soldiers arent just going to let some schmoe walk up and pop them in the head. Once rounds start scattering the first thing your trained to do is get the fuck out the AO. People were not just standing around. There was help. And this guy was a pogue, he trained on weapons once a year like all the other non combat mos's do.
I find it odd he converted to islam and was being deployed to Iraq, then this happens.
Not to mention these were trained soldiers, who knew to disperse at the emergence of gunfire. I don't think he could have done this alone.
And he shot at least 42 people, not 31.
Yeah, I agree with you Mill. I just can't imagine an Army psychiatrist going around popping rounds from extended mag handguns during a graduation in an open theater at close range among a bunch of Cav or 4th ID 3-5 tour soldiers.

As usual I feel we aren't getting the whole story. I agree with everyone saying this doesn't add up. It doesn't.

And of all the damn military guys on base/ MPs, etc... the first responder who shot him was a female civilian LEO. Hope she makes it out of the hospital okay.
Sounds like this guy just went postal. Not religiously motivated, per say- but between 'harrassment' for being Muslim/ his name and having to go ship to IZ... snapped. Guess we'll see.
Still baffled that this guy was able to do this much damage with this range of fire with just 2 handguns. Even if they were semi-automatic.
The facility was a medical/ administrative processing facility. Basically pre-ship physicals, etc. If he's was a medical officer, the shooter probably was familiar with the building layout etc.

i am quite skeptical and know that theese things are alwasy done to divert attention from political agendas i think maybe obama is planning to create some kind of new tax or handout to his wallstreet buddies now. meanwhile all the sheeple are oh noes there is a islamic man who manages to achieve 1/10 of todays motor vehicle death count, we must come together and raise taxes for our military to prevent such another tragedy!
