One time I was in the elevator and you know those phones they have in there for emergencies? it started ringing so i picked it up and it was the f-ing car warranty recording!!!

I just had my number recently changed and have been getting calls from that 213 number. It's an automated message when I pick up asking to extend my auto warranty and when I don't pick up they don't leave a voicemail.

1. Market research companies are not restricted to the DNC list. They can call whoever they want. They do not sell things.
2. There are 2 DNC lists now, one for home phones and another for cells I think? Something like that.

Yep, I've been regularly getting the auto warranty phone spam as well. It would be very interesting to find out how they got all of our info.

Poor girl/chick, he's just doing his job.

But -- you ask for his superviser, and chew him out. "You better stop calling me or I'm going to come over and bust a nut in your mouth and let you drown from my buckets of semen. Oh, put me in the do not call list. Thanks".

Really the best way to get at these people is to tie up their lines. They run their traffic through 3rd-party call centers that obscure their real IDs and either pay per connected call or for usage time. You could always do something like this:

Just go through and actually pretend that you're interested. Ask if you can pay by check instead of credit card. If you can, you got their address. If it's a telemarketing firm, ask the same question. They will probably get the manager, and from there you can probably get more info.

Then just report their asses to everyone.

Oh the irony.

honestly telemarketers are pretty fun to talk to but when they call me on my cell, thats not ok, because my minutes get wasted.

They got your number from your service provider. That is how they got mine. I have 5 cell phones and all of them are getting these warranty calls. One of the phones, the number has NEVER been given to anyone but my wife and kids. That phone got called also, I pressed 1 to see WTF was up. I asked this Indian motherfucker what car warranty was expiring(I have 3)? He said, "the car you drive". I said "I drive all 3 you dumb motherfucker, WHICH WARRANTY IS EXPIRING"? The pussy hung up me.

btw, Auto warranties (manufacturers excluded)are big scams. Don't ever buy an aftermarket warranty!

^-That one's just illegal. I'm on the do not call, and yet they call my cell about my auto warranty(and I have a used car anyways, so fuck "prior business relationship"). Had another pretending to be "Credit Card Service Center" (which it was not).
Anyways, I turn it into a game. I try and act interested enough to get real info about the company(real name, location, anything to figure out who the fuck they are).
If I win(I haven't yet), I'll get a few hundred in small claims.
If they win, we play again the next time they fuck up.

I'll also say that since I started trying to get them to say their company's name/location, I get far less of the calls.

SONOFABITCH! Just saw this thread. I've been getting these calls for weeks now. And it's on my mobile too. I figured that it was a result of having a relatively new number that some deadbeat used to have since I've also gotten a couple of calls from some debt collection agency for some guy. Oh well, I don't answer my phone when I don't immediately recognize the number anyway.

I've not been getting calls, but I have been getting snail mail that says pretty much the same thing. Someone mentioned Florida has strict telemarketer laws (I'm in Florida), so maybe that's why I've never gotten a phone call about it. Too bad I didn't save those mails - it may have been the same people.
