Google instant search...wtf?

a) why the fuck'd they leave the button? and b) now who will listen when I'm feeling lucky?

oh the button is to get the nasty stuff I get it...

Edit: oh the lucky option is there on the dropdown too, man they thought of everything!

Its the same results so actually they are the same results per keyword. The only thing that changes is how you get to those results. Doesnt change seo in my opinion

its very annoying..just got first taste of it yesterday when it was launched in my country..they also removed the search box at the bottom of the page

Who is this guy - elephant man?

Probably Bells Palsy. Random virus that attacks the nerves on the side of your face. So you can get what you're thinking is a "cold" and suddenly have Bells Palsy, it's that sudden. I have a friend who had a bought with it last christmas. She's still healing, and her face may never again be 100%.

i think this entire thing is hilarious, as the average internet user isn't watching their screen as they type - they're staring at their keyboard.

Maybe if the average internet user is over 40. I think typing comes pretty standard in school now a days.

Seriously couldnt the find someone better for this. Everyone in that video was scary.

Too soon to tell how this will affect things. One half thinks it will hurt long tail the other says the opposite. Google has stated in their blogspot it might affect organic rankings but no info on what type.

Everyone who has rankings below 3rd spot is going to get a huge decrease in traffic.

3rd spot will be heavy hit also, 1024x768 resolution doesn't even have the 3rd ranking on SERPs.

Thankfully it doesn't show results for what it assumes you're searching for('se'<enter> shows Sony Erricson, not 'Sears' the first instant result), but users might be heavily influenced by a page that's constantly refreshing enough to give someone epileptic seizures.

that sucks man

even tho people joke and fuck around, health is a very important issue. my dad has parkinsons and my father inlaw has something similar but they havent diagnosed it yet. once you start getting older you realize how important health is, and how trivial everything else is

any chance they're going to dig into cookies/history to pull "preferred" results based on the user's browsing habits?

when i type 'y' i get youjizz before i get youtube.

hey - i'm 27, i've spent the last 10 years in front of a computer career wise, and was playing might & magic on my 386 when i was a kid. i still do it. watching most people in the office to it too. don't be so quick to judge

My thinking would be that Instant would increase the number of long tail searches as users would just keep typing or use the suggest sections until they got a match in the top 3 that looked good. Which made me worry that zimok may be right that it will really suck if your not in the top 3 results regardless of whether its long or short tail.

Secondly though, wouldn't it be in google's best interest to use the Instant + suggest functions to push more and more impressions of its high value/high CPC terms. Is the real reason they are doing this because of user experience or because they can subtly influence users to search the terms that are going to drive their revenue.

In the end I just decided its so distracting that anyone with ADD is totally fucked.

Everyone that has a Google account turn it off. If Google sees that a lot of people are turning it off, they'll probably abandon the project. I for one can't stand it. Talk about annoying.
