That's actually a very good idea. Not sure how we'll go about doing it, but that's definitely something I am going to aim to accomplish.

Both will be equal. The private area is going to be very self reliant because content and information will be provided so it's not like there will be a billion people in there posting nude pics and topic jumping in one thread. It's going to be all business, because people are paying. I wouldn't want to join a new section that was paid, regardless of the cost, I'd feel stupid if people were fucking around on my dime.

No, it's not going to cover anything profitable. It's just going to be a special place for all of us to share our family photos with one another.

Jon, you did good.

Nothing is a necessity besides food and shelter, so if I want to pay for something I will and if I don't I won't but the capitalist in me says go for monetizing! I don't begrudge anyone monetizing anything they put a lot of work into, and if anyone should understand that, it's the people here.
 
Great changes all around. Paid content is a great addition. Everyone can put their own value on what they personally get out of the content. If they don't get it, then they can stop paying the next month. It's their choice.

No doubt there will still be good content in the non-pay area. It's up to folks to contribute there too. Ultimately, the only person who I can control is myself. So I better come clean with the goods. No more lurking.
 
I don't see what is wrong with providing some samples so people will get an idea of what they are paying for. Or how about some testimonials & screenshots? Most marketers recommend including samples and previews when selling subscriptions otherwise the buyer becomes hesitant is is less likely to sign up.

The "samples" and "previews" will be the free section. Duh! And screenshots of what? Thread titles? Boring. I'll put a screenshot of my ass when it opens, just for you Cellphone. Would that be sufficient?

(only problem with the ass idea, you'll need a triple monitor setup if you don't want to scroll forever)
 
I agree with the 'timed release' idea of the paid forum.

Im a noob but Im legitimately here to learn and that I have. Id be disenheartened both professionaly and personally if suddenly that site vanished overnight because everyone is in the paid forum where all the REAL help is at. Trust me, once I get shit going and become an earner, Ill be paying it forward to the community that helped me get on my feet and learn a thing or two along the way. And, one day, I hope to kick it with you all at ASE :)

I think your philosophy is awesome (help and get in or be useless and pay) but keep in mind that I can only help now because I picked up so much from being on the free forum. Also, you should establish some kind of guidelines that qualify someone to get free access if theyre already a paying member ;) (Id like to know how I could get promoted)
