Monthly profits will always bounce around, but whenever I'm not having a better month than the previous, it aggravates the shit out of me. It's not even the money that pisses me off, but the fact that I'm not moving forward and topping the previous month. This month is one of those and I have the holidays to thank for that. A lot of my sites aren't shopping related so they suffer a bit this time of year. I know it will bounce back in the new year, but I'm still ticked. I've been pretty fortunate that for the past year or so I've increased revenues every month, but I guess it's bound to happen at some point. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

That's part of being in business for yourself...ups and downs. It comes with the territory. And it bothers me too.

Yeah sometimes I feel like my happiness is directly related to how many sales I'm making through my online store... not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Month, I've had whole years slide backwards.. Like the stock market, you need to expand your timelines..

same... get depressed over this shit...

but then i just step back and realize its still a lot of money

See, this is what drones will NEVER "get" about the entrepreneurial mindset. The need to constantly keep topping yourself and moving forward.

Just how it is. I'm having a shitty month too, and holidays and other rationalizations aside, it PISSES me off too.

lol. /rant.

well I can say December can hurt if you're doing traditional CPA marketing. We have some affiliates that totally shut down campaigns and take the whole month of December off. Some advertisers too.

Other option is to learn to market shit people want to by for xmas presents but honestly that sounds terrible :P 3% commissions and competeing against best buy never sounded like much fun to me.

word. My family def. notices a drop in happiness on days when im not making that green. I try not to let it put me down, but I cant help it- its something that consumes my mind. I know people depend on me making money and thats stress that can get to you

First year as a full timer having given up the 9-5 to do this and its become the first xmas that I haven't loved because I'm checking stats that are barely there.

Big no-no. Never let the family deal with the ups and down's of your bottom line, keep that shit to yourself.

I don't think there is a better month to take off, so this could be considered a feature and not a bug.

That's solid advice.

For those of you that just want a better December, why not start in Jan to build properties and campaigns focused on December type things, like presents/shopping related.

Im not saying to drop everything to build up for 1 month that will be 11 months away, but throw into the mix at least 1-2 sites/campaigns a month for the next 11 months so that when December is here, you'll be banking.

Gotta start looking at more long-term "steady" business models. Personally my affiliate stuff took a shit in december but I have other sources that have kept me afloat. I've been planning for a "shit month" for over a year now (since I've been working from home) and thus set up some non-affiliate-related biz models that have staying power. That's my only advice!

I think a better comparison for yourself would be your current month's income VS. the income from the same month 1 year ago.

That's true. If I compare that, I'm way ahead of the game and doing pretty damn good.

Probably another good idea that most people don't really consider. It's hard to make yourself invest the time and energy for a site that won't earn you any scratch for another 11 months. But if it's done right, it could kill it.
