Sweet fucking Jebus G - I didn't expect you to be a Slayer fan, not sure why. Fuck - been listening to them since Show No Mercy, Haunting the Chapel and Hell Awaits, when I was in my teens and in high school in the early eighties.

I love old Metallica as well - they broke new ground for all heavy metal bands, so they should be given props as far as I'm concerned.

That whole era when it exploded was fucking awesome!! Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and the guys that followed them like Sepultura and one of my all time favourite bands - Pantera (I put them up there with those guys).

Fuck...so many awesome bands at that time - makes me mourn modern music.

What are you nuts? if anything, Megadeth is a wannabe Metallica, given the founder Dave Mustaine was the original lead guitarist for Metallica and wrote most of their most popular songs before being fired for alcoholism and replaced with Kirk Hammett. He has spent the rest of his career playing runner up to Metallica, even though Megadeth is clearly more skilled in every way imaginable.

Agreed. Been into Anthrax for a long time as well.

I really think Slipknot was the end of that line of great American metal acts.
