Moving abroad to do IM

Cyprus is where I have a second home (the Northern part), it has casinos, "night clubs", lots of beaches, plenty of youngsters for your kids to play with, jetski, boats, great restaurants (all sorts of food......although not so much junk like McD's etc.) an American University fantastic weather (most of the year), but the infrastructure for IT is not that great, but it just sort of works.

I'm hoping not too many people find out about it, otherwise it just becomes expensive, far too commercialized.

This is the view from my pool, I have wifi and hope to find a hammock that can cope with a fat guy like me.

Wow - your place rocks! Definitely worth fighting for rankings to keep that place :P

I remember the last trip the girls and I had to Ayia Napa is was truly one of the best of my life! Is the Water Park still open by any chance (in the south)?

I was going to say Singapore. Don't know if it is Muslim (partially or mostly) though, it might be.

Hurray. I have been considering Singapore for a while. What are you're reasons? Mine is that the tax is low, and the government isn't doing 'stimulus' packages.

Cool thread! Some great ideas there guys..
I'm seriously considering this myself.. I think your environment is far and beyond one of the most important ingredients to success.
I just can't get motivated or find any inspiration where I am now in dullsville.
South America looks awesome!

Singapore is clean, hi-tech and and mostly privatized. According to Jim Rogers, they have a first class medical infrastructure with low prices. The whole thing sounds like capitalism on steroids. If you want to make money, you have to be where the capital is.

For those that are considering Singapore... what you might learn the hard way;

It's unlikely you'll own a car there - insane costs (and you pay tax for which road and what time you use it)
Humidity/Temps almost unbearable in summer (if not from the area)
Your communications are monitored (news is also censored there)

And you'll want to check their laws (#3 is gonna be a problem for some)

Bungee jumping is illegal.
The sale of gum is prohibited.
Homosexuals are not allowed to live in the country.
Oral sex is illegal unless it is used as a form of foreplay.
Pornography is illegal. (they would throw you in jail for visiting this forum, not an exageration)
As it is considered pornographic, you may not walk around your home nude.
Failure to flush a public toilet after use may result in very hefty fines.
It is considered an offense to enter the country with cigarettes.
Cigarettes are illegal at all public places.
It is illegal to come within 50 meters of a pedestrian crossing marker on any street.
If you are convicted of littering three times, you will have to clean the streets on Sundays with a bib on saying, “I am a litterer.
It is illegal to pee in an elevator.

And if you smoke the green, it is an offence punishable by death. In fact, if you were conversing or associated with someone carrying a large enough quantity to be regarded as trafficking, you'll probably share the gallows with them.

Best reason to be there; you're in finance, like a broker or a banker. Still interested? try http://www.expatsingapore.com

If you want to make money, you have to be where the capital is.
Hong Kong

Why are you looking to move? Just the weather?

Ask me anything about Buenos Aires, it would be cheap if you keep earning good dollars. And there are other cities in Argentina cheaper than Bs. As. and maybe nicer too.

I will goto my village instead. because...
* It has no Muslim extremist cuntholes, and nice weather (no snow).

(The above line was written in error). HAHAHAHAHA

Who want to go and live anywhere for permanent if you can travel across different countries, places; thanks to CPA Marketing!

How about Malta?

It's a gaming jurisdiction like Gibraltar or the Isle of Mann so loads of people I know are working for the online casino/sportsbetting/poker companies there. Some people I know that have gone there like it, others consider it a shit hole like Gibraltar... only bigger. I think you just have to go there yourself for a week or two to see if you like it first.

I'm partial to Asia. I live in Japan, but it's probably hard for a family here because it's so monocultural. Hong Kong and Singapore have bigger international communities and it's easier to get by with English.

Thailand's beautiful.

Bali's nice, but Indonesia in general is a shithole with lots of problems and health risks.

I'm in Ireland at the moment and agree with other posters that -don't recommend it. Fun enough nightlife but girls are a bit cold and really hot ones are few and far between. Also its relatively expensive for no reason.

Someone mentioned Auckland. That's a fun town, cheap and internet easily available. Great place for sailing and a fun lifestyle but you get the feeling after a bit that the world is happening elsewhere. Would live in Melbourne or Sydney before Auckland again.

It's great to see the differences in answers on here - many peeps picking fun places for singles (thailand, bali, phillipines) others picking the other end of the spectrum (safe. comfortable and not exciting - singapore, virgin islands). It's really such a personal choice. I guess the wife+2 kids part of it makes it something you have think out rather than just flying there and checking to see if it's right for you. Which is what I do.
