I hate these discussions. Seriously, government in any form is like handing someone a straight jacket and saying take my freedom and tell me what to do in line with what you think is right for me.

How any sane person can think it is good to be in that situation is fucking beyond me.

Can a person living by himself with no one else around him be peaceful? Yes
Can a person living in a society of human beings be peaceful at a given time? Yes
Can a person living in a society of human beings be peaceful long term? No, even if he is peaceful himself he will probably have to react to others eventually.
Can a group of people living in a society without a government be peaceful long term? No

Just because an individual person can be peaceful, or even a group of people can be peaceful, as soon as one person is no longer peaceful, no one will be peaceful...

It's quite difficult to argue with someone who refuses to identify anything clearly, which is exactly what you have started to do once someone asks you to explain your position.

When you were making claims about government earlier, you had no problem painting with a broad brush.

I've argued with relativists before. It's a waste of both of our time. You acknowledge nothing about language or reality, and I think they are both crucial to any debate.

I think some of the problem is I came in late to this discussion and am just tagging on and adding things in.

Do you want me to spend a little time to review this thread and write out my position on government in one post?

I understand that we have differing opinions on this, and I certainly respect yours, but it is very difficult to have an enjoyable political debate through an online forum. These are usually debates that work better face to face over beers.
