Over Sleeping is Killing Me

Teh whole idea of making your own monies is being able to sleep in (unless of course you are yet to make teh monies), so what's teh problem?

I go to sleep and wake up when I want I fuckin love it.

Yeah that is the awesome thing about AM. I don't sleep in too late everyday but waking up between 9 to 11 is much better than being a grunt and waking before 8.

If I know I need to get up, I just think to myself that maybe something is wrong with my campaigns and I should at least check the stats and then I can go back to sleep. As soon as I get on though, there's always too much to do to go back to sleep.

I have the opposite problem though, I can never get to sleep so I only get about 5 hours a night. I've heard sleeping too little AND too much can do quite a bit of harm to your body.

What you need is some sunshine. Just go tanning for like 30 minutes a day or w/e until your skin starts to turn a slight pinkish.

Happened to me once, the whole wake up late routine. What I did was down a pint of water before I went sleep. I randomly woke up at 7/8am every morning needing a piss. I was in the bathroom already so just jump in the shower (whilst taking a piss if you're into that kinda thing). Problem solved.

The people that are telling you to "just get up" are oversimplifying.
I used to have a similar problem - I whipped it when I came across a blog post about 8 months ago. Can't find it for the life of me but the concept of the post was fairly simple. Heres a 2 minute recap of said post that changed the way I look at sleeping.

You have to train your body to do what you want. You say the alarm wakes you up but you just turn it off? Simple fix. I call it "Sleep Training"
Practice makes perfect.
Step 1.
Go through whatever routine you do before bed, brush your teeth, shave, shower - whatever your normal routine is.
Step 2.
Set your alarm clock to 5-20 minutes later and lay down like you normally do to go to bed, try and snooze off a bit (this is best done when you are NOT really tired)
Step 3.
When your alarm goes off instantly stretch in bed, sit up and grin like an idiot. Get out of bed and do whatever you normally do in the first 10 minutes after getting out of bed for the day.
Step 4.
Repeat this several times (I only had to do it like 3 times a day for 2-3 days before I had my brain trained) your goal is to train your mind to the point where hearing the alarm clock = get the hell out of bed with a smile.

This method worked wonders for me - hope it helps you too, if I find that blog post I'll PM it to you.

i was laid off 4 months ago and i have a similar problem. when it's not absolutely necessary for me to get up, i have no motivation to. it's starting to get depressing, now that the weather is getting nicer. thankfully, i'm going back to school in the fall.

I've been through this several times. I usually knock off around 5~6 am, and get up around noon~1 pm.

But it's flexible. Last night I took a nap in the evening.

As long as my scripts are running, and all of my computers are humming, I don't particularly need to be awake refreshing stats every 10 minutes in between WF and My Brute.

Get up.

50 push ups.
50 jumping jacks.
100 crunches.

Head to the batch room...

It sucks for a few weeks but I can't get started without doing it.

I find you have to train your self and for me it only takes a few days to get in and of a sleep cycles. i bounce around from 4 hours, 6 hours to 12 hours. once i do 12 hours it last till am forced to only sleep 6 hours but if i'm forced to wake up affter 6 hours of sleep by 3 day it's like clock work i can only then sleep for 6 hours tilll for what ever reason i fall back into the 12 hour cycle

man, I wish I had your problem.

Working 14 hours a day doesn't leave me much time to sleep.

Ditto on the putting the alarm away from your bed... it will make yourself get up to turn it off. This is a special problem for me on days when I only have less than 4-5 hours to sleep. I MUST set the alarm far away or I risk oversleeping.

@airforcematt, man I thought I had heard of everything. That's pretty freakin out there.

How's your back pain doing, btw (You know just to derail the thread completely)?

I have the opposite problem: waking up too early, and not being able to get back to sleep to get a normal amount. This leaves me groggy all day long, the result of stress, tension and worry. I used to be able to sleep a normal 7-8 hours.

If the OP is keeping the room darkened for sleep, pull up the shades or blinds and let the sunshine flood the room in the morning.
