Question to all the atheists?

Ok here is a simple but effective test/story for you people who believe that Atheists are a bunch of pains in the asses trying to force our "belief" on you guys.

Here is a situation you need to imagine and really think about:-

A new "religion" is created in the same vein as Scientology but its belief is that we were all created out of the eyeballs of a giant space walrus.

Of course you believing in the one true god (allah, jehova, god/jesus etc.) know this to not only be wrong, but ridiculous, but after all it is their right to believe what they want so of course you shouldn’t judge them or ridicule them.

Someone comes up to you in the street and talks to you about this great religion we will call Walismus with Walicus the Walrus as their deity. He won’t stop pressing you, although you are not interested. He asks you why you don't believe in Walicus, you decide to answer......What do you say?

They now start to approach you every day, several times a day and people start to talk about Walismus on the TV and Radio all the time. When you meet people they great you with “May Walicus bless you with many glorious days of blubber”

Now one day, when you are so sick and tired of hearing about Walicus, a man with a beard on only the right half of his face (so say the teachings of Walicus), approaches you and asks you the same question of why do you not believe. You are extremely agitated with all this forced feeding of Walismus so you decide to tell him what you REALLY think……What do you say now?

You now go about your daily business, but are hearing about Walicus on a constant basis and it is has now become main stream with over 3/4 of all people believing in it. But of course you know that there is only one true God, and that this is a cooky religion that has no basis in fact, no proof and no proper reason to believe except for wishful thinking (as Walicus grants the believers an eternity of free cable t.v. and strippers).

But it is their right to believe what they want, no matter how stupid it sounds to you, so why should you be bothered?

Soon there are so many believers that many politicians are believers and are coming more and more into power.

They have voted that Walsmus should be taught to your children in schools and they have voted that having sex with a woman under the age of 28 and having LESS than 6 children when being married for more than 10 years should be illegal. And have now made it so Tuesday is the day of rest and that Sunday is not only a work day, but you should work twice as hard (so say it Walicus), and the fact that YOUR God has said you must rest on Sunday matters not as this is a democratic society.

What do you say now? Do you stay silent? Do you allow your life to be dictated by people who believe in a space Walrus? Do you allow your children to be exposed constantly to its teachings?

The Great Wars of The Tusks……TO BE CONTINUED

Seriously, you're capable of handling hours and hours of repetitive advertisements pushed in your face for products you don't want or need, but the moment someone says "Walrus" your lack of interest warrants feelings of oppression?

I'm not sure who is the parody here. Walicus or you.

Either way, I've never heard of such sustained long term, active, personal harassment of one person by another in the name of religion in a free country such as the US or the UK.

If it happened, it's not a problem with religion, it's a social/psychological problem.

Call the damn cops. Maybe they'll ride by on a bicycle and take him away in their basket.

Dude, are you baked right now? That's one epic story man, A+.

Unfortunately earlier in the thread I mentioned, I only hate Atheists that push their beliefs onto other people. Yes, I also hate religious folk that do that, except Muslims, I hate all Muslims. Haha just kidding... kinda :food-smiley-010:.... no, im seriously kidding, I don't hate.

So basically, although your story's theme is not moot, it is alas unnecessary as I have already confirmed my agreement with your stories theme aka underlying message.

With all that said, I hope you had as much fun and enjoyment creating your story as I had reading it.

:jester:

Thanks dude. The point I am really making is really at what point do you shut the fuck up and allow your life to be dictated by religion? This is maybe why you feel that atheists don't stop talking about it and "push" their "beliefs" as we are raging against the machine and trying to bring about change by making it a talking point.

We don't want people to believe in what we believe in (don't believe) as we don't care, people can believe what every they want, as long as they don't try to make it part of our life as well, which they do on a daily basis.

Debate is what brings things out in the open.

For the most part, what religion people believe in comes down to their geographical location, and if you don't believe in a certain religion you might go to hell. To me this is significant because how about the tribes people that still exist living in the depths of South America? They probably have not even heard of god, so they have not been able to properly "save" themselves. Does their ignorance mean that they are doomed to the fiery pits of hell?

Hmm, seems like something a "fair" and "just" god would do.

lol, keeping on laughing . hope it works well for ya. you just didn't get my point
have a nice day™

If God really does exist, and the Earth is his most perfect creation, then he's really shitty at his job. If he was my employee, I'd fire his ass.

Very very good point!

I've met many retarded idiots who were christians. I've also met many incredible people who were christians.

I've met many retarded idiots who were atheists. I've also met many incredible people who were atheists.

Religion, or lack there of, isn't the issue. It's the insecure, scared, lonely people who're trying to push their agenda onto other people that are the problem.

I'm an atheist and I would rather spend my time with an interesting, fun, happy, christian than and pushy, insecure atheist who tried to convince me that they were right.

Feel free to replace the word 'Christian' with Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, or any other religious denomination.

Why the fuck do you faggots care in what ever the fuck someone believes in as long as it ain't intruding on your fucking ass?
Problem is, the christian right has been intruding on everyone's asses since the early 80's. Not just the atheists' asses, but pretty much everyone else in this country who believes in the concept of separation of church and state. It ain't just the hardcore atheists who are complaining about it, but others - theists of all kinds, etc, etc- who aren't part of the christian right. The problem isn't with christians, theists, or atheists who respect the freedoms and liberties of others, it's with the christian right and their desire for theocratic rule.WTF happened to separation of church and state?

Honestly, all I really care about is that people stop and think "what if" for a moment. You would be surprised the amount of people out there who don't even consider the alternative to what they were taught.

That's why I fight the good fight. :D

Well as a good Christian, maybe you should, because that is what it says in the bible. Why you're at it, go and get yourself some slaves because that is ok in the bible as well.

Have you actually read the fucking bible? And before you say there is another meaning to the bits that reference that please realize that in the bible it says Gods law is perfect.

So go kill some athiests, Muslims, Mormons, hookers, lying politicians and anyone that works on the sabbath, because if you are not, well you are simply not doing your job properly as a good Christian.

Personally I don't give a shit what you believe but Chianti is right on the money.

why are the snarkiest atheists out there totally clueless about "the Bible" and "Christianity"? you do realize you are talking exclusively about the Old Testament, which is BEFORE Christ, so you aren't talking about Christianity whatsoever. Willful ignorance. If you guys are so fucking smart, why can't you grasp chronology?

So what you are saying is that the old testament is not true and that Christians don't believe it to be true?

Usually if you have two things that are true and one happens after the other, then that does not automatically cancel out the truth of the first thing right?

Did Jesus teach that the old testament should be ignored and everything he says from now on is the truth?

Excuse me if I am ignorant of these facts, but as far as I was aware Jesus was Jewish and the Jews believe in the old testament.

Very confused.

I was just going to comment on this myself...

The Old Testament is just as pertinent as the New Testament in Christian theology. At least it is as a Catholic. Sure, it doesn't relate directly to Jesus Christ himself, but it is supposedly the word of god nonetheless, just as the New Testament.

It's not that the Old Testament is not true. It's that the Old Testament laws were relevant at a particular point in time, but isn't now.

Just like nobody accuses you of bathing once a year.

Where in the new testament do those laws (of god) get revoked? Why would God change his mind about certain things? (e.g. stoning to death of homosexuals, people who wont sleep with their dead brothers wife etc.) was he mellowing over time?

Sorry but what you guys are saying does not sound correct at all when it comes to Christianity as I learnt when I was in school.

Please point me to a place in the New Testament where it tells you God has changed his mind.

Good christian? Thats an oxymoron.. There is no such thing as good christian. Because for one to come to God and faith in Christ he must recognize that he is, in fact, NOT good..

^^QFT

In addition, by talking shit on the first few books of the Old Testament, you are shitting on the Torah which is the holy book of the Jews, which means you are an anti-Semite and have offended all of Jon's family (and Adam Sandler)

Do your own research, bro.

Alternatively, for the low low price of a thousand dollars I'll give you detailed answers, complete with citations and the like.

The only reason for the bargain price is because I actually enjoy this stuff by the way.
