Recommend me a place to move to in California

How would you guys rate Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa areas? Or Carlsbad down to Encinitas?

Unrealistic to drive to Hollywood often.... ?

Downtown HB is nice. Right next to the water. There are some nice parts of Costa Mesa. I prefer HB.

Hollywood is about an hour minimum away. During rush hour or other times it can be 1.5+ hours. You can drive to LA after 8pm and still encounter traffic. It's insane.

dude.. dont move to california.... This place is freakin horrible. Kiss your AR-15 with launcher goodbye given you move here

Also, if you come make sure to trade in your car for an off-road vehicle. This city is full of potholes. Plus, you'll be hard pressed to find a sidewalk that's flat and not full of cracks and uneven areas. I've been to Third World countries in better condition.

Seriously - don't move here. California sucks. Terrible business environment. High taxes. So what if we have the beach?

Not even kidding - what charlesmartel just said is so true. Driving on the 5 or 405 freeway I've had more tires jacked up than when driving in Latin America.

Fuck this state.

There are better, cheaper beaches in the world. South FL is way cheaper and has a better business environment than CA. Better gun laws, no state income tax, and you could live out your scarface wet dream

I have an electric skateboard I use for short trips and finding a smooth sidewalk is like finding a leprechaun. Cracks, uneven pavement, uplifted roots, and holes abound. I feel sorry for anyone in a wheelchair that has to get around on the sidewalks.

Plus, there are very few bike lanes. Not that you'd want to ride your bike with all of the unlicensed, uninsured dumbasses around here.

I just flew in to LA and I can to you FFS that the recession has affected prices/business from when I was last out here 5 years ago. There are a bunch of vacant office spaces and just a glance on zillow will tell you how far things have plummeted.

You realize that we are hammering CA because we do not want more people here - right?

The problem with FL is, well, whether true or not, it is the reputation of the crazy people. Seems like there is always some crazy news story about someone in FL.

The roads are no worse than many other large urban areas - besides the potholes are only big this year because we actually got some rain. The engineers in SoCal never planned for that.

CA is the best place to live. Perfect weather, perfect people, perfect everything. If you structure your business entities properly you can even pay very little in taxes. Let's not forget - very little humidity.

Everywhere else has too much heat, too much snow, too much rain, big insects, 7-year Cicada (Chicago), or whatever.

Within a 1 hour drive in any direction I can water ski, snow ski, hit the beach, skydive, snorkel, take a cruise to anywhere, hit a big city nightclub, hit a small town pub, look at world class art, visit an indian reservation, make billion dollar deals, and then go surfing afterward. It is a cultural center and an economic center. CA has everything and more. And lets not talk about the beautiful people - an LA 7 is a 10 in the rest of the country.

There is no reason to live anywhere else.
