Ron Paul...

I guess it's just a difference in perspective, but I've always taken his physical stature as more grandfatherly and trusting. I think people can vote for experience and authenticity. I guess he only looks like someone who gets picked if you like kicking around gramps.

Although I will admit, when I first saw years ago him I immediately thought of Bernard from Boston legal

Funny on the Bernard comment - and that highlights the point. TV is all about image, and the professionals have determined that people that look like Ron Paul live with their mother into their 60's.

The problem with the soft grandfather image is that it does not project well on the world stage. People like Obama because of his projection, his look, his authority.

I know people that look like RP but have a charisma and presence that cannot be denied. These people can inspire - so I guess it is not exactly about how he looks - it is about his presence. He has none.

Even a little nerd can command authority and respect if they are comfortable in their own skin and have an underlying... something. I do not know how to describe it - but Paul does not have it - and that is the real problem.

Bumping this for the debate tonight. Apparently RP hasn't taken the advice and is still swimming in his suits.

You guys do know that this would look normal in person, but they keep using a camera hung at a different angle to view RP on, right?

No. There is NO gap like that in any of the other candidate's suits, they fit tightly (from all angles). His suits are oversized and he does hunch over like a frail old man, causing the gap between his shirt and the oversized jacket.

So you're saying that you've personally inspected the other candidates from all angles?

Wow, I'm impressed, Sup3r, how'd you land that gig?

It's not hard to look at other candidates while the camera is focused in on somebody else (and when on themselves). This provides multiple angles. There are no gaps, the jackets are nice and snug with their shirt collars. Yet there is an obvious gaping hole on Ron Paul's suits, no matter who is interviewing him.

Keep drinking the kool-aid though.

People like you should not be allowed to vote. This isn't America's Next Top Model. I thought only women voted based on who they'd rather sleep with for fucks sake.
I'm absolutely going to vote for RP but even I can see what SUP3RNOVA is talking about. People are fucking shallow. I know a handful of middle aged women who would use this as a reason to dismiss RP. They'll say it makes him look sloppy, unsophisticated. They're dumb, but they still vote.

This is such an easy issue to deal with, too. All Paul needs to do is go to a tailor.

y,o people are actually complaining about his wardrobe? and again, I forget i'm a part of a forum filled with faggot webmasters.

Also another reason for the media to poke fun at him.

Las Vegas Republican debate: Winners and losers - The Washington Post

* Ron Paul’s suit jacket: The Fix is, admittedly, a bit of a clotheshorse. But, anyone who has ever worn a suit could see that the Texas Congressman’s coat was at least two sizes to big. The ill-fitting coat made Paul look tiny, never a good image to project when you are running for president.

come at me bro

True supporters of Ron Paul care about his campaign. A large part of his campaign is image. The media gives him jack shit for attention to begin with, he should look sharp EVERY opportunity he gets. Not like an old geezer who is shrinking into his suit by the minute. The mainstream idiocy of America cares about these types of things. I don't personally, but I care about the success of his campaign (which requires the mainstream population).

Carry on.

Instead of wasting your time critiquing his wardrobe as wannabe Tim Grunn

Here's some pics to occupy your time in a more personally meaningful way with your hand and fist

No need to +rep me.

as sad as it is people will vote for somone with a cool suit and not somone who cares about their country and making things right.

Do you really think the type of person with that mentality is actually thinking right this second "Oooh Romney, what a suit. Mr. Obama, you got your work cut out for you!".

If fashion is what people are voting on these days, we are doomed.

However I believe the theory is flawed due to Ghadafi's amazing fashion sense. There should have never been a revolt. I'm no fashion expert though, maybe it was some faux pas he committed, maybe he unsuccessfully tried to start a new trend and it just didn't pan out, maybe if he didn't have pee wee herman mugshot hair when he was captured, he would have risen to power all over again. I'm not the expert, maybe you can enlighten me.

No, that's ridiculous. They both look clean cut.

What they will think is "Oooh Ron Paul, how can I expect him to run our country when he looks like a shrinking old man that's about to die at a moment's notice?" People think this way, and I've talked to them.

You're ignorant if you don't think self-image plays a role in political campaigning.

I'd love to hear from our resident women members on here about this topic. I'd bet that every one of them says how a candidate dresses would affect how they or other women would vote for that person.

And really, all he has to do is get some better suits. It's such a quick fix. Maybe he'll read the Washington Post article and make a change...

Of course it does, we're not going to elect a guy in a greasy wife beater and boxer shorts.

However, I also don't see it as such a big deal if someones suit doesn't fit them perfectly either. Personally, I don't think it makes him look like he's frail and dying.

He also doesn't act anything like that either, if your watching him on television and see the energy he has, you won't get that impression either.
