STAY AWAY FROM NAMECHEAP.COM

I ♥ Name.com

I never had a problem with GoDaddy though, always used them until that Internet censorship shit they were supporting last year. Voted with my wallet.
I have been sour on Namecheap since they took away 2 domains from me that generated decent passive returns.

I use Namecheap, but I prefer Godaddy and Name.com. Name.com is surprisingly good even though their panel is a little antiquated, they just give off a better vibe than other registrars.

i prefer NC than GD even tho NC did take some of my domains.
yet hwat intenet.bs did is the worst. took domains, and put their ppc on it.
fuck internet.bs

This.

WTF are you talking about man?! Whether you like GoDaddy or not, I can't stand bullshit exaggeration like this. You sound like my mother recounting a news article in which 5 people died and she says 50 people were killed. It's full on retardation.

It's 8.49 + 18 cents ICANN fee. .nets are $7.68 total. Namecheap wins in the cheap whois category, but out of my approximately 450 domains, I think I have privacy on 3 of them. That being said, if you ask nicely your GoDaddy rep will give you a year of free whois too.

Nigga, we all know those are a bunch of .info's you have blurred out there.

So I go to register 20 domains, everything goes through fine, than my account gets flagged for "potential fraud", they dick me around tell me to do this and do that to verify (which I do) and they never get back to me. So I go to take my business back to godaddy and register the domains I wanted and HALF of them (the "good" ones) are all registered! By namecheap! :glowingeyes_sml:

When you tried to register the domains what kind of WHOIS data have you given?
Are all the WHOIS contacts identical to your personal data?
Problems like these rise often for discrepancy between contacts data

Namecheap has this magical engine that recognizes brandable names and steals them from you. Didn't you know that?

Been with them for ages, got 700+ domains, no problems.
Support is great too.

i would never take shit like that from a registrar. You should fly out to their office and find whoever stole your domains. Have a nice little chat with him. I'm sure you'll get it settled.

Why is it a horrible company? Besides the fact that Bob is a huge douche, are you basing this purely on third party anecdotal evidence or have you personally been wronged by them?

You don't have to be wronged by a company to not like them. You are right, Bob is a giant douche, strike one. And because he's a giant douche, he does douchy things, such as up-sell any chance he gets, strike two. I get it, a company is suppose to make money, and up-selling is a great way of accomplishing that. But if I'm going to be sold to, it better damn well be something that will benefit me in some way, not just a smarmy sales pitch to bump up the sale price. The way it's done assumes the customer is an ignorant fuck, and is only good for the amount of money they can be milked for. That's probably the large majority of Godaddy users, and if you know that's how you are regarded, you'd be insulted as well.
Finally, being said giant douche, Bob resorts (or resorted, I note Danica is no longer sponsored by the company) to selling via sex. Once again, it's the best selling technique in the world, and has been for centuries. But combined with all the factors above, and I'd rather give my money to "supporting" something less douchey.

he does douchy things, such as up-sell any chance he gets, strike two.

I always find it hilarious when IMs complain about GoDaddy's upsells. There are currently two upsells in the checkout process. You have to click twice to get to where you want to be. Ohhh nooees!

Danica is still with them as far as I know. She was scheduled to be in their 2013 Superbowl ads. Her website is still plastered with GoDaddy sponsorship. She was on their home page up til about 2 days ago.

Godaddy sucks plain and simple. No one in their right mind would use just a crap ass company.

Namecheap is king! Been with them for the past 7 years, renewals can be pricy at times but they make it up with their excellent support!`

I've used GoDaddy for over 6 years. Their prices are competitive, their DNS is top notch, their panel is pretty easy to use, and they have impeccable telephone service.

50% of my domains are at GoDaddy. The remaining 40% at Namecheap, then the balance at Name, Dotster, and a few other registrars.

Back in the day, there were a lot of white label resellers doing this, but some of them used a shitty script to auto register the names. It didn't take long to put these guys under.

Are you using any tool to come up with the names? Perhaps someone else has the same tool, and they just beat you to it.

godaddy did piss me off several years ago when I registered a domain with them; within a day or 2 after registering a domain, a rep would call me to upsell. They did this for each of 3 domains I registered with them. Something about their pitch put me off, so I started using other registrars.

I have rarely searched a domain's availability thru the registrar I intend to use, for the same reason why you don't express interest in a domain publicly. Directnic has a good search tool, it's similar to google's keyword tool.

There is no 1 registrar that makes everyone happy. godaddy and namecheap are pretty good registrars, or at least average. They are awesome, when you compare them to someone like 1and1:
