Errrm, I'm sorry but this is not 100% correct...
Almost every payment processor offers the option once a sale was made and cc info was saved, to send back an alias number that you then can use to match duplicates etc.
so for example the real cc number is: 123456789
the alias that is created for this number is: +-99@234I
Even if your payment processor should not offer this option, that's easy to build and integrate in your backend.
Affiliates should never be held responsible for things like credit card fraud, because they can not control it!
(If they do shady stuff, they should of course be charged back)

Then why not do it with one-way md5 hashes - just like mailers are doing with suppression lists. Those are one-way and prevent abuse. It allows the advertiser to scrub dupes without "technically" storing the CC number.

i dont know about the whole dee/opes clusterfuck.. but as someone that has seen the numbers behind a rebill a few times, I can totally say some of the numbers presented in this thread is spot on.
I have always been paid by this advertiser. Cant speak for other networks.
This thread is about scrubs not payments. Jacob for some reason always likes to create some sort of drama in our direction. Anyone remember the "Copeac wouldn't buy me a steak thread"? I always took care of you, paid you and i believe you did very well for yourself working with us. Not sure why you harbor hatred towards us.

Thanks for all the insight guys. Personally I have no experience with any of this but I am currently working with a network to get our product on their platform. They have been advising us to offer rebills/trial offers but we are hesitant in doing so. For us, we fear getting bombarded with fraudulent orders and paying out on those orders only to receive merchant chargebacks. Looks like we have a lot to consider and learn since it's all still pretty new to us (affiliate marketing, online marketing).
Good luck to everyone negatively affected by this! In the end, I'd have to agree with Jon. If you feel like you're getting screwed by someone/company, cut your losses and move on. You cannot force/expect someone to change their ways without them wanting to do it themselves in the first hand. Learn from it and move in.

This is one piece of the craziness that I believe Jon was alluding to. This is a mafia mentality, the type of shit people should go to jail for.
Mike is on the board of "The Brand Protection Group (BPG)." A company Dee founded with his consultant on merchant processing, Bryan Baumgartner, who worked on the fraud team at VISA for 7 years, to weed out all his competition. I have strong evidence to suggest that Bryan has been and currently is 100% on Dee's payroll. Let's see what Mike has to say about this operation??? I can say that it was smart of Mike to get on board so he could get paid vs. companies who aren't a part of the "in-crowd" and have been left holding the bag. Feel free to notice the other members on the board who are still running Dee's offers direct (coincidence???)...back to my point.
They are essentially running an extortion scheme against other advertisers that says "pay us or we'll report you to VISA and Mastercard. You're either with us or against us." This is one major reason why Opus is the only company still processing Acai rebills. They are essentially representing themselves as VISA and MC to the advertisers who were previously competing with them. They will have you believe that they are just "setting the standards for the industry to make continuity a sustainable business;" however, they provide guidelines to the competitive companies, the companies follow those guidelines, and then BPG still backdoors them and sells them out to their merchant bank or to VISA and MC. This is not about compliance, this is like the mafia getting organized to put the competition out of business. Meanwhile Dee (OPUS, VIVERA, WHATEVER COMPANY he bankrolls next) continues to do the same shady shit he's been doing to take down everyone around him for the last two years.
Bryan's former company will not allow this to continue once they realize what this company is actually doing. I hope Dee and their whole shady crew goes down hard.
BPG will pass and eventually the Opus business will collapse as well. Steer clear. If you're going to drive traffic to them, get your money first or fast because this can't last.
